About the Role
~1 min readAre you a solution architect who understands how retail businesses run — from buying and ranging to replenishment, pricing, promotions, and product lifecycle?
Do you thrive on translating complex merchandising processes into elegant SAP S/4HANA designs that work for people, not just systems?
We’re looking for a Merchandising Solution Architect to join our Business Systems & Platform team. This role takes an end‑to‑end view of retail merchandising capabilities, designing solutions that span SAP and the wider retail technology ecosystem, including non‑SAP platforms, integrations, and data products.
You will help shape how our core retail functions operate across SAP and connected platforms, ensuring our solutions are scalable, future‑ready, and aligned with our long-term strategy.
- Lead solution design for SAP S/4HANA across key merchandising areas such as MM, SD, CAR, PMR, UDF, and Forecasting & Replenishment — ensuring solutions reflect real business process needs and industry best practice.
- Translate complex retail and merchandising requirements into practical SAP architectures, guiding functional consultants and business stakeholders through options, impacts, and future-state design.
- Work with developers and technical teams to enable integrations (BTP, CPI, APIs) across SAP and non‑SAP systems, ensuring cohesive end‑to‑end solutions that support merchandising operations.
- Shape solution designs across SAP and adjacent retail platforms (e.g. pricing, promotions, planning, POS, data and analytics), ensuring consistent architectural patterns and business outcomes.
- Define and govern solution architecture standards across ERP, data, and integration landscapes, ensuring clean core principles and consistent design.
- Apply SAP Activate, LeanIX, Signavio, and established architectural patterns to deliver high-quality outcomes.
- Partner with Enterprise and Principal Architects on our long-term SAP roadmap, including RISE with SAP, S/4HANA evolution, and cloud-enabled capabilities.
- Act as a trusted advisor on SAP best practices, upgrade paths, extensibility, and innovation (BTP extensions, automation, AI).
What We Offer
~1 min readYou’re an experienced Solution Architect with a strong foundation in SAP business processes, particularly across Merchandising, Supply Chain, or Finance. You bring 5+ years of leading SAP solution design, guiding cross-functional teams, and shaping future-state process and system landscapes.
Your strength lies in understanding how the business operates and translating that into well‑designed SAP solutions. You connect people, processes, and platforms to create architectures that are scalable, practical, and aligned with strategic goals.
Commercially astute and confident working across the organisation, you collaborate seamlessly with functional consultants, delivery teams, and senior business leaders. You’re known for simplifying complexity, providing clarity, and helping teams make well‑informed decisions. Curious, pragmatic, and forward‑thinking, you constantly look for ways to uplift quality and drive better outcomes.
- Strong experience as an SAP Solution Architect or Senior Functional Consultant in merchandising or supply chain domains.
- Deep understanding of retail business processes and how they map into SAP.
- Ability to lead solution discussions, influence decision-making, and simplify complexity for stakeholders.
- Familiarity with SAP integration patterns and platforms (BTP/CPI/API-led) — not as a developer, but as an architect who understands dependencies and end-to-end design.
- A passion for building modern, scalable, secure solutions that support real business outcomes.
