Responsibilities
~1 min readAs a Manager, Accounts Receivable, your key area of responsibility will be overseeing end-to-end AR operations — from invoicing and credit checks to collections and compliance — while empowering a capable team to execute at a high level. You will set team objectives aligned with the accounting department’s goals, monitor invoice processing, ensure timely payment collection, conduct credit checks, and negotiate with clients in non-payment situations. You will prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc forecasting reports, maintain organized records of invoices and deposits, and ensure all procedures comply with applicable laws and accounting principles. A meaningful part of this role involves proactively identifying opportunities to leverage AI and automation to improve throughput and process quality across the team.
To be successful in this role, you will be an autonomous, empowering leader who builds trust with your team rather than hovering over them. You are genuinely comfortable with technology and actively seek ways to integrate new tools into your workflow. In addition, the successful candidate will have strong diplomatic and negotiation skills, sharp analytical instincts, and a track record of coaching and developing accounting professionals in a fast-paced environment.
• Set objectives for the accounts receivable team that align with the accounting department’s goals
• Monitor processing of invoices and ensure high-quality, law-compliant invoicing and collection procedures
• Ensure timely collection of payments and conduct credit checks across assigned accounts
• Negotiate with clients in non-payment cases and act as the primary customer liaison for invoicing, billing, activations, terminations, support tickets, and order inquiries
• Prepare monthly, quarterly, annual, and ad-hoc forecasting reports
• Organize and maintain records of invoices, bills, and deposits
• Stay updated on industry and legislative changes and ensure all team members follow accounting principles
• Oversee the activities and performance of direct reports, providing direction, coaching, and mentorship
• Collaborate and support employees during performance management, KPA achievement, and career development planning
• Monitor and report on deviations from credit standards; ensure pricing accuracy and account for concessions
• Support Geotab global strategic initiatives
• Diploma or degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field, or equivalent experience
• 5–8 years of experience in accounts receivable, collections, or general accounting (AP background also considered)
• 3–5 years of experience in a supervisory or leadership role managing a team
• Hands-on experience with accounting software and advanced MS Excel skills
• Genuine comfort with technology and a proactive mindset toward integrating AI tools and automation into daily workflows
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, including comfort with presentations and training
• Demonstrated ability to manage high-volume accounts and lead a team independently
• Well-developed negotiation, conflict resolution, and relationship management skills
• Proficiency with Google Workspace (Sheets, Docs, Slides)
