In 2020, G Mining Ventures (GMIN) was created to acquire direct ownership of projects and capitalize on the value uplift that successful mine development offers. In July 2024, GMIN has acquired the Oko West project. The Oko West Project is a new gold discovery in northwest Guyana. It is located south of the historical “Oko” gold district, some 95 km west of Georgetown.


To ensure the achievement of this large-scale project, G Mining Ventures is looking for an experienced and motivated individual to fill the position of:

Millwright



Key Responsibilities 




·       Install and align mechanical equipment (e.g. crushers, conveyors, mills, pumps).

 

·       Perform preventive and predictive maintenance on plant machinery.

 

·       Troubleshoot and repair mechanical faults and breakdowns.

 

·       Fabricate and modify parts using welding, cutting, and machining tools.

 

·       Follow safety procedures and participate in risk assessments (JSA/JHA).

 

·       Complete maintenance logs, work orders, and use CMMS systems.

 

·       Collaborate with electricians, welders, and operators for efficient task execution.

 

·       Maintain clean, safe, and organized work areas.

 

·       Support equipment upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives.

 

·       Adhere to lockout/tagout and all mine safety protocols.



Qualifications/Skills and Experience



  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Technical certification would be an asset.





  • Certified Millwright (e.g. Red Seal or equivalent).
  • 2–5+ years in mining or heavy industry.
  • Valid safety certifications (LOTO, Working at Heights, Confined Space, First Aid, Rigging).
  • Strong mechanical and troubleshooting skills.
  • Able to read technical drawings and use precision tools.
  • Basic welding and fabrication (an advantage).
  • Experience with CMMS systems (e.g. SAP, Pronto).
  • Excellent safety awareness and adherence to procedures.
  • Good teamwork, communication, and ability to work under pressure.

 

Working Conditions

  • Work Schedule – 14 days on/7 days Off
  • Transport, accommodations, and meals provided on site.
