JOB SUMMARY:
The Textile Production position plays an important role in supporting Goodwill’s mission by transforming donated textiles into sellable merchandise, generating revenue that helps provide employment opportunities and supports services to individuals in need.
This role supports retail store operations by grading, pricing, tagging, and preparing donated textiles for the sales floor. Receives separated textiles from donation intake, inspects items for quality and condition, determines appropriate disposition, and prepares approved merchandise for sale by hanging, tagging, and organizing garments according to store standards. Operates the Celerant system to select price points, print tags, and apply tags to textiles. Maintains a steady production flow to support daily goals while identifying select merchandise appropriate for e-commerce. Maintains a clean, safe, and orderly work area in accordance with Goodwill policies and SOP guidelines.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
Textile Grading & Quality Control
- Receive donated textiles routed from donation intake and inspect items for quality concerns (e.g., holes, rips, stains, excessive wear, missing components, odors).
- Determine appropriate disposition of textiles (hanger-ready, salvage, recycle, or discard) according to established standards.
- Maintain consistent grading quality to ensure only acceptable merchandise moves forward in the production process.
Textile Pricing, Tagging, & Hanging
- Determine appropriate price points for textiles according to current pricing guidance and production standards.
- Operate Celerant system to select price points, print merchandise tags, and apply tags accurately to garments.
- Use approved tagging equipment to securely attach printed merchandise tags to textile items in accordance with tagging and presentation standards.
- Select appropriate hanger types and hang garments neatly to prevent damage and maintain presentation standards.
- Organize hung and tagged textiles on Z racks by category, size, and price as directed; label racks as required.
Production Flow & E-Commerce Identification
- Meet daily production quota/assigned targets as communicated by leadership while maintaining quality standards.
- Maintain a steady flow of hanger-ready product to support sales floor needs.
- Identify textiles that may be better suited for e-commerce (e.g., high-quality, vintage, trending notable brands, unique items) and route them according to established procedures.
Safety, Organization & Housekeeping
- Maintain a clean and organized workstation; keep aisles and walkways clear.
- Follow all safety procedures and guidelines for handling donated goods.
Teamwork, Direction, and Mission Support
- Participate as a team player and attend team meetings as required to improve customer/donor service, inventory flow, and operation processes.
- Become familiar with Goodwill’s mission and programs in order to answer questions and provide information appropriately.
- Follow all safety and security procedures and maintain a safe, orderly work environment.
- May be assigned to assist in other work areas or perform additional duties as needed to support store operations.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:
- Job can be learned through on-the-job training and one-on-one supervision.
- High School Diploma or GED preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to understand and carry out written and verbal instructions and follow established workflow, processing, pricing, tagging, and merchandising standards.
- Ability to work efficiently and maintain productivity to meet daily production goals.
- Ability to make sound, consistent decisions regarding item condition, pricing, tagging, and disposition within established procedures.
- Ability to organize merchandise by category, size, and price and maintain orderly production flow.
- Ability to identify items appropriate for e-commerce based on quality, brand, condition, vintage, trend, or uniqueness.
- Ability to operate or learn required systems and equipment, including the Celerant system and approved tagging equipment.
- Ability to provide excellent customer and donor service, including professional interactions and assistance as needed.
- Ability to work a varied schedule and flexible hours Sunday through Saturday of each week.
- Ability to professionally communicate and project a positive image of Goodwill to customers and donors.
- Ability to use good judgement related to safety, including proper lifting techniques and maintaining clear work areas.
- Ability to work independently and make responsible decisions.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
- Ability to stand and walk for eight (8) hours or more if necessary.
- Ability to lift, push, or pull up to 35 pounds.
- Ability to stand, bend, stoop, reach, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods.
- Ability to grasp and handle clothing and supplies for grading, tagging, and hanging.
- Ability to communicate clearly with donors, customers and coworkers in a retail environment (verbal communication/hearing).

WORKING ENVIRONMENT:
- Work is performed indoors in a retail and back-room production environment.
- Normal lighting and temperature controlled conditions.
- Noise level – Mild to Moderate
- Some dust, dirt and lint from incoming donated goods.
