Role Summary
To provide program support to the Senior Engagement Program; to include planning, coordination, implementation and monitoring of activities and services designed to enhance the well-being, social inclusion, independence, and quality of life for older persons at the senior center.
Role Responsibilities
Organize and implement recreational, educational, health promotion, and social engagement activities for seniors; provide support during activities and events.
Maintain program schedules, calendars, and ensure program materials and resources are available and organized.
Serve as a point of contact for seniors and their families
Maintain regular contact with participants to encourage involvement and monitor their well-being.
Support the development and promotion of initiatives that encourage active, healthy, and positive aging.
Assist with program evaluations, surveys, feedback collection, and recommend improvements based on findings.
Identify participant concerns, provide appropriate support, and refer issues to the supervisor when necessary.
Support healthy aging awareness campaigns, distribute educational materials, and promote senior well-being within the community.
Participate in community meetings, engagement activities, and encourage community involvement in senior programs.
Perform assigned cleaning duties while adhering to Health & Safety policies and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment for staff and the public.
Manage program resources, equipment, and informational materials are readily available to support efficient program delivery.
Complete a minimum of 60 Essential Learning Hours annually to enhance professional knowledge and skills.
Perform additional duties that are reasonable, job-related, and within the scope of this position, supporting the objectives and effectiveness of the Department, as assigned by the Supervisor or senior officer.
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
High School Certificate
Minimum three (3) years relevant experience in community service, social services or a related area.
Knowledge & Skills
Ability to work effectively with older persons from a diverse background.
Ability to exercise sound judgement and maintain confidentiality.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Organizational and time management skills.
Knowledge of community development and social services programs.
