The primary responsibilities of the Senior Accountant are to support the timely and accurate preparation of financial statements in accordance with applicable accounting standards, manage complex general ledger and revenue accounting activities, and ensure revenue is properly recognized in accordance with US GAAP and IFRS. This role encompasses the responsibilities of partnering cross-functionally with Sales, FP&A, Legal, and operations, performing technical accounting research, supporting audits and reporting requirements, and maintaining strong internal controls. The Senior Accountant will also identify process improvements, drive automation, use advanced data and reporting tools, and provide guidance to junior accounting team members.
Responsibilities
~2 min read· Executes month-end close activities, including the accurate and timely recording of revenue, expenses, assets, liabilities, and related journal entries in accordance with IFRS, US GAAP, Company policy, ASC 606, and IFRS 15
· Prepares and reviews complex balance sheet and income statement reconciliations, including revenue, deferred revenue, contract assets and liabilities, billings, accounts receivable, and other technical accounts
· Reviews new and existing customer contracts, addendums, sales orders, and non-standard terms to determine proper revenue recognition treatment and ensure compliance with applicable accounting standards
· Serves as a revenue accounting resource for Sales, FP&A, Legal, and business stakeholders during contract negotiation by evaluating revenue impact, communicating implications, and recommending compliant alternatives
· Prepares specialized reports, monthly balance sheet and income statement analyses, variance explanations, and management reporting to support accurate financial results and business decision-making
· Performs technical accounting research and drafts accounting memorandums for revenue recognition and other complex accounting matters
· Monitors relevant IFRS and US GAAP reporting developments, and recommends updates to policies, procedures, controls, and reporting practices as needed
· Develops, documents, and improves revenue recognition and general accounting processes, including internal controls, system modifications, data flows, reconciliations, and reporting enhancements
· Supports the annual audit by preparing schedules, reconciliations, supporting analyses, and technical accounting memos
· Partners with FP&A and leadership on forecasting, budgeting, trend analyses, and ad-hoc financial analysis
· Uses advanced Excel capabilities and data tools, including Power Query, dynamic arrays, complex formulas, pivot tables, VBA, SQL, Power BI, Power Automate, Python, and similar platforms to improve reporting, automate recurring work, and strengthen analytics
· Provides guidance and mentorship to junior accounting staff, answers technical questions, and reviews work as needed
· Provides and maintains excellent customer service to other departments and stakeholders
· Works with the Controller, Assistant Controller, and Supervisor, Accounting on various initiatives and completes special projects and other ad-hoc requests
· BS or BA in Accounting or equivalent discipline
· CPA or CA Certification preferred
Requirements

· Revenue recognition experience required, including technical knowledge of ASC 606 and IFRS 15
· Public accounting experience preferred
· Software or SaaS revenue recognition experience preferred
· Experience with accounting systems required; Microsoft D365 Finance experience is a plus
· Strong technical accounting background with a thorough knowledge of IFRS and US GAAP, including ASC 606, IFRS 15, technical research, and preparation of accounting memorandums
· Strong understanding of revenue recognition, bookings and billings processes, contract review, deferred revenue, contract assets and liabilities, and related internal controls
· Advanced Microsoft Excel skills, including Power Query, dynamic arrays, complex formulas, pivot tables, data modeling, data validation, and macros/VBA
· Experience with SQL and business intelligence, reporting, and automation tools such as Power BI, Power Automate, Python, and similar platforms
· Experience with AI tools is a plus
· Ability to clearly and concisely document and effectively communicate complex accounting and reporting issues to the finance and non-finance teams
· Strong analytical, problem-solving, and process-improvement skills, including the ability to convert large data sets into actionable insights
· Highly effective communication skills (verbal and written)
· Ability to work in a fast-paced environment, meet deadlines, multitask efficiently, and manage multiple critical projects
· Detail-oriented with a high level of ethics and integrity
· Ability to mentor team members and collaborate cross-functionally to drive accurate reporting and continuous improvement
· While at work, this position is primarily a sedentary job and requires that the associate be able to work in an environment where they will consistently be seated for the majority of the workday
· This role requires that one can sit and regularly type on a keyboard for the majority of their workday
· This position requires the ability to observe a computer screen for long periods of time to observe their own and others' work, as well as incoming and outgoing communications via the computer and/or mobile devices.
· The role necessitates the ability to listen and speak clearly to customers and other associates
· The work environment is an open room with other associates, and noise from others will be part of the regular workday
