Junior Payroll Analyst

Groupon's Payroll Operations team delivers accurate, compliant payroll across multiple countries. We're looking for a Junior Payroll Analyst who is detail-oriented, eager to grow, and excited about using AI to modernise how payroll gets done. You'll learn the full payroll cycle hands-on while working in a team that actively builds AI-assisted workflows — this role is ideal for someone starting their payroll career who wants to develop both operational and digital skills.

• →Support end-to-end monthly payroll processing: collecting and validating inputs (new hires, terminations, absences, bonuses, benefits), running verification checks, and preparing data for our external payroll provider.
• →Reconcile payroll outputs against HR system data (e.g. gross-to-net checks, bank detail and absence verifications) and flag discrepancies.
• →Work with AI tools (e.g. Claude) to automate repetitive checks, build reusable workflows, and improve process quality — with training and mentoring provided.
• →Respond to employee payroll queries and support communication with payroll vendors.
• →Maintain payroll documentation, checklists, and SOPs.
• →Support audit and SOX compliance activities by preparing accurate, well-documented control files.

• 1 year of experience in any role in a corporate environment.
• Strong attention to detail and comfort working with numbers and deadlines.
• Genuine curiosity about AI: willingness to learn AI-assisted ways of working and experiment with new tools.
• Good written and spoken English (B2 level); additional European languages are a plus.
• A growth mindset — you ask questions, take feedback well, and want to build expertise.
• Confident in Excel — comfortable with formulas, pivot tables, and VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP.
• Discretion in handling confidential employee data.

• Hands-on AI fluency development — our team runs regular AI training sessions and builds real automation into daily work.
• Day-to-day work with modern payroll technology — HRIS, automated workflows, and data-driven reporting instead of manual paperwork.
• Mentoring from experienced payroll specialists and a clear path toward Payroll Analyst and Senior Analyst roles.
