Responsibilities

  • →Support the development of Long-Range Plans, Construction Work Plans, and Coordination Studies for electric distribution cooperatives
  • →Assist with the design of overhead and underground distribution systems, including new construction and system upgrades
  • →Perform technical analysis using Milsoft WindMil and Light Table software
  • →Assist with distribution system modeling, mapping, and data collection
  • →Support the preparation and documentation of protective device settings for reclosers and breakers
  • →Participate in Periodic Work Order Inspections and field visits to help ensure design quality and system reliability
  • →Assist with the development and maintenance of technical standards for distribution infrastructure
  • →Support utility relocation planning and coordination with clients and other stakeholders
  • →Prepare technical documentation, reports, design materials, and specifications
  • →Collaborate with engineers, designers, clients, and suppliers to support successful project delivery
  • →Apply applicable industry codes and standards, including RUS, NESC, IEEE, ANSI, and NFPA/NEC
  • →Travel to client and project sites as needed
  • Associate degree in Electrical Engineering Technology, Engineering Technology, or a related technical field; OR equivalent relevant work experience in electric utilities, electrical distribution, or a related field
  • 2+ years of relevant experience in electric distribution, utility operations, electrical design, or a related technical field preferred
  • Experience reading and interpreting electrical drawings, maps, and technical documentation
  • Strong computer skills and willingness to learn technical software
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to organize and manage technical information
  • Ability to work independently while also collaborating effectively with engineers, designers, and clients
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Willingness to learn and develop additional technical skills
  • Ability to travel to client and project sites as needed

Nice to Have

  • Electric cooperative or utility operations
  • Distribution system planning or design
  • Milsoft WindMil
  • Light Table
  • AutoCAD
  • GIS/ESRI
  • Transmission or substation projects
  • Distributed generation and interconnection studies
  • RUS or NESC standards
