Dental Surgery Assistant

Department/Hospital/Cluster: Department of Dentistry & Maxillofacial Surgery, United Christian Hospital & Kowloon East Cluster (HA Dental Service Network)
Pay: HK$19,981 - HK$42,259 [HGPS Point 4 - 17] per month including Monthly Allowance
Up to 15% of total basic salary (after deducting the contribution of Mandatory Provident Fund by Hospital Authority) as end-of-contract gratuity may be offered to contract staff upon completion of the contract subject to satisfactory performance.
 
Key Responsibilities:
1) Assisting Dental Officers in the treatment of patients; sterilizing and supplying dental materials; and undertaking other related duties in the control dispensaries of the dental clinics or units. 
2) Perform any other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
 
Entry Requirements:
1. Either one of the following qualifications or equivalent:
   (a) Have obtained the Certificate of Proficiency in Dental Surgery Assistant issued by the Prince Philip Dental Hospital;
   (b) Have passed the probationary examination for Dental Surgery Assistants run by Department of Health or the former Medical and Health Department.
2. Completed F.5/ S.5 with:
    (a) 5 subjects passed in HKCEE including English Language (Syllabus B) and Chinese Language, or equivalent; OR
    (b) 5 subjects in HKDSE attaining the level specified below:
          (i)  Level 2 in English Language and Chinese Language, and
          (ii) Level 2 in New Senior Secondary subjects/ “Attained” in Applied Learning subjects (subject to a maximum of 2 subjects under this category)/ Grade E in Other Language subjects
Or equivalent.
3. Be able to speak fluent Cantonese and English

Required to work in other HA Dental Service Network hospitals to meet service needs, including Alice Ho Miu Ling Nethersole Hospital (AHNH), Caritas Medical Centre (CMC), Hong Kong Children's Hospital (HKCH), Kwong Wah Hospital (KWH), Tseung Kwan O Hospital (TKOH) and United Christian Hospital (UCH).
