Senior Statistical Analyst (Cancer Registry) [For serving HA staff only]

Key Responsibilities: 
The post holder will be a member of the Hong Kong Cancer Registry (HKCaR) team with main duties as follows:

1.    Lead and supervise a team of Statistical Analysts I/II to carry out the tasks as planned in statistical production processes.
2.    Identify data sources and liaise with external organizations to obtain data and analyses as required.
3.    Design structured processes to extract, organize and transform data from various sources into analyzable datasets for data abstraction and consolidation in accordance with international standards.
4.    Apply statistical software, programming tools, and modelling techniques to conduct analyses and generate tables, charts and reports.
5.    Compile statistical reports, presentation materials, and summaries to communicate key findings from analysis, modelling and projections.
6.    Manage the production and dissemination of routine cancer statistics and outcome indicators, including content published on the HKCaR website.
7.    Handle enquiries and data requests in accordance with established guidelines. 
8.    Conduct data analytics and quality assurance procedures to enhance data compilation, quality and production processes.
9.    Train and supervise junior staff, promote cross-team collaboration, and support effective working practices.
10.    Perform ad hoc tasks and other duties as assigned by senior officers.

Entry Requirements: 
1.    A bachelor degree in Statistics, Data Science or equivalent.
2.    At least 5 years' post-qualification experience in statistical analysis and computing work, or research related work. 
 

Preferred Attributes: 
1.    Knowledge of and experience in statistical computing, statistical packages and data visualization tools such as SAS, STATA, Python and R.
2.    Knowledge of and experience in HA IT systems and data platforms such as AIDA, CDARS, IPAS, OPAS and LIS.
3.    Knowledge of cancer and/or health statistics, and understanding of cancer registry development in Chinese Mainland, Hong Kong and/or overseas.
4.    Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel and Access.
5.    Good communication skills, with the ability to explain complex or technical information to non-statistical colleagues.
6.    Good command of both spoken and written English and Chinese.
7.    Able to work independently and willingness to learn new skills.
