Who we are

Helsing is a defence AI company. Our mission is to protect our democracies. We aim to achieve technological leadership, so that open societies can continue to make sovereign decisions and control their ethical standards.

As democracies, we believe we have a special responsibility to be thoughtful about the development and deployment of powerful technologies like AI. We take this responsibility seriously.

We are an ambitious and committed team of engineers, AI specialists and customer-facing programme managers. We are looking for mission-driven people to join our European teams and apply their skills to solve the most complex and impactful problems. We embrace an open and transparent culture that welcomes healthy debates on the use of technology in defence, its benefits, and its ethical implications.

The role

As Associate Programme Manager for Helsing's Land domain, you take ownership of broadly defined tasks within a programme, managing your workstream to completion with a high degree of independence. You build initial working-level relationships with customers within your area of responsibility and develop an internal network that allows you to draw on the right capabilities when needed. You apply structured, best-in-class project management approaches to track progress, surface issues and keep delivery on schedule, contributing meaningfully to some of Europe's most consequential defence technology programmes.

The day-to-day

  • Take ownership of a defined set of programme tasks within the Land domain, managing your workstream from planning through to delivery and producing high-quality outputs with limited oversight
  • Build and maintain working-level relationships with customers within your area of responsibility, supporting stakeholder interactions and ensuring actions from meetings are tracked and followed through
  • Develop and maintain programme tracking tools and risk registers, providing clear and timely status updates to programme leadership and flagging issues at the earliest opportunity
  • Support cross-functional coordination across internal teams, ensuring the right capabilities are available within your workstream and that dependencies are identified and resolved proactively
  • Contribute to the continuous improvement of Helsing's programme management practice by applying structured approaches and translating lessons learned into repeatable processes

You should apply if you

  • Have supported or coordinated delivery workstreams within a defence, aerospace, automotive or engineering environment, taking ownership of defined tasks and managing them to completion independently
  • Have built and maintained project tracking tools or risk registers and can produce clear, accurate status reports for programme leadership
  • Can apply structured, best-in-class project management approaches and are committed to developing your practice, whether or not you hold a formal certification
  • Communicate with full fluency in English and German (C1), written and spoken, and are comfortable navigating standard defence and procurement terminology
  • Are willing to travel regularly to partner and customer locations and can meet all requirements for national security clearance under applicable law

Note: We operate in an industry where women, as well as other minority groups, are systematically under-represented. We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet all the listed qualifications; ability and impact cannot be summarised in a few bullet points.

Nice to have

  • Have some exposure to defence procurement structures or government contract environments, gained through a placement, internship or supporting proposal activity

What we offer

  • Competitive salary and VSOP options
  • Relocation support: up to €2,500 and 4 weeks temporary accommodation
  • Learning: €500/£450 yearly allowance
  • Health & wellness: gym membership and mental health support (Nilo.health)
  • Social: regular company events and monthly social allowances
  • Enhanced parental leave: 22 weeks fully paid for primary caregivers & 6 weeks for secondary caregivers
  • Family support: 5 days of paid family emergency leave, 100% remote work option during pregnancy and phased return to work

These are the core benefits across all locations; there may be additional benefits in specific sites.

Helsing is an equal opportunities employer. We are committed to equal employment opportunity regardless of race, religion, sexual orientation, age, marital status, disability or gender identity. Please do not submit personal data revealing racial or ethnic origin, political opinions, religious or philosophical beliefs, trade union membership, data concerning your health, or data concerning your sexual orientation.
