Learning and Development Lead
Quick Summary
Who we are Helsing is a European defence AI company on a mission to protect liberal democracies.
Helsing is a European defence AI company on a mission to protect liberal democracies. We build AI that processes complex sensor data in real time to support the humans who operate in the world's most demanding environments. Our work is deliberate and consequential: the decisions made at Helsing matter, and the people who make them are held to the highest standard.
We are a company of deep specialists — people who take their craft seriously and care about what they build. We move with urgency, operate with rigour, and hold ourselves accountable to outcomes that matter far beyond the company itself.
As Helsing's Learning and Development Lead, you will own the end-to-end experience that brings new team members into one of Europe's most consequential technology companies. Sitting at the intersection of people, culture, and organisational performance, this role carries genuine responsibility: the onboarding experience you design and deliver will directly shape how quickly and how confidently every new hire — from engineers to programme managers — can contribute to the mission.
You will act as a cultural guide for incoming talent, welcoming new hires, grounding them in Helsing's purpose, and supporting their transition from offer acceptance through to the end of probation. Working closely with hiring managers, team leads, and functional experts, you will design structured learning pathways that are both rigorous and scalable, building the infrastructure that allows Helsing to grow without losing the depth of understanding that makes our culture distinct.
This is a build role. The onboarding and learning systems you create will not exist before you arrive. That is the opportunity.
- Design, deliver, and continuously iterate on structured onboarding programmes across all divisions, ensuring every new hire receives a consistent, high-quality introduction to Helsing's mission, culture, and operating model
- Partner with hiring managers, team leads, and subject-matter experts to develop role-specific learning pathways and onboarding content that accelerates time-to-productivity
- Build scalable learning infrastructure — including an LMS, self-serve resources, and automated workflows — that grows with the organisation and reduces reliance on manual facilitation
- Define and track onboarding success metrics, using data and structured feedback to drive measurable improvements in new hire satisfaction and time-to-contribution
- Collaborate across the People and Talent teams to ensure a seamless, well-coordinated experience from the moment an offer is accepted through to the close of the probationary period
- Serve as the primary point of guidance for onboarding-related questions from new hires and their managers, removing blockers and ensuring no one navigates their first weeks without support
- Champion an inclusive onboarding experience that reflects Helsing's values and actively supports team members from diverse backgrounds to contribute with confidence
- Have designed and delivered structured onboarding or learning and development programmes in a fast-growing technology environment, with demonstrable improvements in new hire outcomes
- Have hands-on experience selecting, implementing, and administering a Learning Management System (LMS) to centralise and scale learning content
- Have built engaging, self-paced learning pathways using content development tooling, with a clear understanding of what makes asynchronous learning effective
- Have managed complex, cross-functional programmes end-to-end — from scoping and design through to execution, evaluation, and iteration
- Approach people programmes with a data-informed mindset, defining the metrics that matter and using evidence to drive continuous improvement
- Communicate clearly and build productive relationships across seniority levels, with the ability to align stakeholders and move work forwards in a matrixed organisation
Note: We operate in an industry where women, as well as other minority groups, are systematically under-represented. We encourage you to apply even if you don't meet all the listed qualifications; ability and impact cannot be summarised in a few bullet points.
