The Marketing, Recruitment, Admissions and Communications (MRAC) Department is seeking a Assistant Manager to join the Future Students team for international student recruitment. As the first point of contact for prospective international students, education agents, school counsellors and stakeholders from overseas, the Assistant Manager plays a pivotal role in shaping positive student experiences and driving enrolment success. This role actively supports recruitment and engagement events located in overseas and Malaysia, with a focus of international student recruitment. 

 

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  

  1. Support prospective international students and their parents, schools and partner education agents by attending a range of student and engagement recruitment activities in overseas and Malaysia by provide counselling to prospective students 

     

  2. Develop and analyse CRM‑based reports to identify trends, uncover opportunities, and provide insights that enable informed, data‑driven decision‑making that shape recruitment strategy.

  3. Build and strengthen professional working relationships with internal stakeholders (the University academic schools) and external stakeholders (e.g. partner education agents, EMGS) 

  4. Strong understanding of overseas market (current and future trend), collate market intelligence and be able to make constructive feedback/ recommendation of business opportunities 

  5. Contribute to international student recruitment strategy planning and execution of plan effectively by working closely with Line Manager and the team members

  6. Assist Line Manager in managing agents’ portfolio including monitoring of agent recruitment performance and dispute cases

  7. To achieve student enrolment target, lead and guide the team members in enquiries and leads management as well as conversion (Leads to Application, Application to Offer, Offer to Acceptance and Enrolments)

  8. Lead and guide the team members in event planning, management and logistics arrangements

  9. The role required to work and travel on selected weekends/public holidays and outside of standard working hours during weekdays. 

  10. To work on ad-hoc task when it is required to support the Future Student team

Person Specification

  

This section details the attributes e.g. skills, knowledge/qualifications and competencies which are required in order to undertake the full remit of the role.

Essential

  • Bachelor degree in International Relation, Communication, Psychology, Business, Marketing or relevant professional qualifications
  • At least 6 years working experience in sales or student recruitment in Higher Education industry 
  • Experience in international student recruitment
  • Strategic planning, reporting and team management skill
  • Sales oriented with strong interpersonal skills – good in networking and relationship building
  • Strong work ethics, integrity and highly self-motivated with a focus on achieving results
  • Knowledge of schools and education agent engagement in overseas
  • Good in CRM and a suite of Microsoft Office applications 
  • Team player and work well with people from diverse background
  • The role required to work and travel on selected weekends/public holidays and outside of standard working hours during weekdays. 

Desirable

  • Strong written and spoken communication skills in English and Bahasa Malaysia; additional languages such as Mandarin are an advantage
  • Understand the University’s Recruitment cycle. 
  • Experience working in Malaysia or Foreign institution or education agency
