For more than 118 years, Backus Hospital has been the primary source of healthcare services for much of Eastern Connecticut. We are home to the only trauma center in New London and Windham counties, and are the only area hospital with LIFE STAR helicopter services. Pharmacists ensure optimal drug therapy by designing and monitoring medication regimens that improve patient outcomes and align with our commitment to continuous improvement. By directing and supporting pharmacy staff, the pharmacist maintains an optimal medication use system that upholds both patient safety and regulatory compliance.

Education & Licensure:

Required: PharmD or licensed Pharmacists prior to 2002 with Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college of pharmacy

Licensure: 

Unrestricted Pharmacist license in Connecticut or eligibility for licensure within 45 days.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

Strong knowledge of pharmacy safety and quality requirements.

Proficiency with pharmacy-related computer systems.

Effective communication and interpersonal skills.

Excellent organizational skills with attention to detail.

Ability to problem-solve using evidence-based methods.

Collaborative mindset and commitment to patient-centered care.
