The Logistics Coordinator is responsible for coordinating transportation activities, monitoring shipments, communicating with carriers and internal stakeholders, and resolving routine operational issues. The role supports logistics operations through execution of established processes, shipment tracking, reporting, and administrative activities.
Detailed Responsibilities
- Monitor and track all loads and troubleshoot issues with carriers when problems arise
- Maintain accurate and timely shipment updates to ensure visibility and operational continuity
- Monitor and respond promptly to internal and external communications, providing shipment status updates and pertinent information to carriers, plant teams, and key stakeholders
- Serve as the primary point of contact for carriers to facilitate shipment execution and status updates while providing prompt, high-level customer service
- Coordinate the resolution of routine shipment issues while maintaining the best customer experience and escalate non routine concerns to management, as needed.
- Utilize approved carrier network and established routing guidelines to secure transportation capacity and tender freight assignments
- Light weekend and after hours tracking
- Utilize Home Chef’s Transportation Management System (TMS) to conduct daily operational tasks
- Use internal tools to communicate forecasted load requirements for truckload and LTL (less than truckload) shipments
- Develop strong relationships and operational understanding with warehouse and production teams to coordinate load scheduling, dock appointments, and support efficient shipment execution
- Proactively communicate pertinent shipment details to/from carriers and internal teams
- Serve as the primary point of contact for freight exceptions (late pick ups, rescheduling, vendor issues, etc.) coordinating resolution in accordance with established procedures to best avoid customer delays.
- Audit and reconcile invoices prior to payment by accounts payable
- Raise claims and other exception items as required
- Maintain data within internal tools
This position requires <10% travel.
Qualifications

- Completion of a four-year degree program in a related field
- Highly autonomous and proactive
- Strong verbal and written communicator and negotiator
- 1+ year logistics and/or transportation experience required
- Mastery of spreadsheet usage (Excel, Google Sheets)
- Strong ability to multi-task and flexibly switch between tasks, detail orientation
- Strong sense for numbers in a business context e.g., prices, spend
- Capable of quickly assessing competing priorities and maintaining fast response times

Home Chef offers the base salary range as posted below, with the exact offer depending on factors such as geographic location, experience, skills, and internal equity. While compensation is within the provided range, it is not typical for offers to be made at the upper end. In addition to base salary, Home Chef provides a comprehensive benefits package, including healthcare coverage, 401k match, and paid time off.
