Cost Controller

We are currently seeking a Cost Controller to join our Finance team. This management position reports directly to the Finance Manager and plays a critical role in maintaining effective cost control procedures, inventory management, and financial governance across the resort.

The Cost Controller is responsible for overseeing the resort's cost control function, ensuring accurate inventory management, monitoring food and beverage costs, supporting purchasing controls, and driving cost-efficiency initiatives while maintaining Hyatt's financial standards and operational excellence.

Responsibilities:

• Monitor and analyze food, beverage, and general store costs to ensure budgetary compliance.
• Conduct regular inventory counts and reconciliations of food, beverage, operating supplies, and equipment.
• Review and verify receiving, purchasing, and issuing procedures to ensure compliance with Hyatt policies and internal controls.
• Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly cost reports, including variance analysis and recommendations for improvement.
• Monitor menu costing, recipe costing, and pricing structures in collaboration with the Culinary and Food & Beverage teams.
• Ensure accurate stock records and inventory valuation in the system.
• Review supplier pricing and purchasing practices to identify opportunities for cost savings and operational efficiencies.
• Conduct spot checks and audits on inventory, receiving, storage, and operational practices.
• Support month-end closing activities related to inventory and cost accounting.
• Partner with department heads to enhance cost awareness and ensure effective control measures are maintained across the resort.
• Ensure adherence to Hyatt's financial policies, procedures, and audit requirements.
   

• Bachelor's Degree or Diploma in Finance, Accounting, Commerce, Hospitality Management, or a related field.
• Minimum 3 years of experience in Cost Control, Finance, or Accounting within the hospitality industry.
• Previous experience in a luxury resort or international hotel brand is highly desirable.
• Strong understanding of inventory management, purchasing controls, and cost accounting principles.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and hotel financial systems – iScala. 
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to interpret financial information and provide meaningful recommendations to operational teams.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
• High attention to detail, integrity, and accountability.
• Ability to work independently while building strong relationships across departments.
• Previous experience in the Maldives hospitality industry will be considered a distinct advantage.
