People & Culture  |  Reporting to: Head of HR

About NEXT.io

NEXT.io is a B2B iGaming events and media company producing industry-leading summits, editorial content, research, podcasts, and networking experiences. We are scaling rapidly and expanding into new verticals, and the people behind that growth matter enormously to us.

This role sits within a close-knit HR team that looks after everything people-related in the business, from hiring to culture to the everyday employee experience. It is a team that works together, supports each other, and takes pride in getting things right.

The Role

We are looking for an HR Manager who loves the operational side of HR and takes real pride in keeping things running smoothly. You will work closely with the Head of HR, taking ownership of a wide and varied workload that spans the full employee lifecycle.

This is a role for someone who is energised by variety, enjoys being the person people turn to, and finds genuine satisfaction in executing well.

No two weeks are identical, and some tasks will be familiar and recurring. Both are equally valued here.

What You Will Do

Day-to-Day HR Operations

  • Own the operational HR calendar, including probation reviews, contract renewals, and recurring employee lifecycle touchpoints.
  • Manage onboarding end-to-end, ensuring every new joiner has a smooth, welcoming start from offer letter to first week.
  • Handle offboarding processes with care: exit interviews, documentation, and a respectful close to the employment relationship.
  • Be the go-to person for day-to-day employee queries on benefits, policies, leave, and HR processes, resolving them promptly and escalating where needed.
  • Draft HR documentation including contracts, amendments, offer letters, and formal correspondence.

HR Systems & Data

  • Take ownership of BambooHR (or equivalent HRIS), keeping all employee records complete, accurate, and current.
  • Build and run regular HR reports covering headcount, turnover, absence, and other people metrics.
  • Use data to spot patterns and surface useful insights for the Head of HR and the wider team.
  • Champion consistent and disciplined use of HR systems across the team.

Employee Relations & Compliance

  • Support the Head of HR in managing employee relations matters, including disciplinaries, grievances, and performance processes.
  • Apply working knowledge of Maltese employment law to ensure HR practices and documentation remain compliant.
  • Keep an eye on potential compliance risks and flag them early.

Talent Acquisition Support

  • Work closely with the Talent Acquisition Specialist to ensure a seamless experience for candidates and hiring managers.
  • Own the offer and pre-onboarding process, ensuring a smooth transition from candidate to new joiner.
  • Step in on coordination and scheduling during busy hiring periods as needed.

Culture & Engagement

  • Be a genuine, approachable presence that people feel comfortable coming to.
  • Support the planning and delivery of engagement initiatives, internal events, and recognition moments.
  • Contribute to a positive everyday employee experience, not just at the formal HR touchpoints.

What You Bring

Essential

  • 3 to 5 years of experience in an HR generalist or HR operations role.
  • Good working knowledge of Maltese employment law.
  • Experience with an HRIS such as BambooHR or similar.
  • Genuinely warm and approachable, with strong people skills and the ability to handle sensitive conversations with care and discretion.
  • Highly organised, with the ability to manage multiple workstreams at the same time without losing attention to detail.
  • Comfortable working with HR data and metrics, using them to understand what is happening and where things can improve.
  • A practical problem-solver who enjoys taking ownership and moving things forward.

Desirable

  • Knowledge of UK employment law or other international jurisdictions is a welcome bonus.
  • Experience in a fast-growing or multi-brand environment.
  • CIPD qualification or equivalent HR certification.
  • Familiarity with multi-country HR administration or cross-border employment.
