AAPCHO’s mission is dedicated to promoting advocacy, collaboration, and leadership that improves the health status and access of A/AA and NH/PI communities within the continental U.S., Hawai’i, U.S. Territories, and Freely Associated States. Our vision is to be a national leader and critical voice for A/AA and NH/PI community health centers and consumers, ensuring our communities have better access to affordable, high-quality, and culturally and linguistically proficient health care.

The Research Manager will work closely with the Director of Research, project staff, AAPCHO departments, health centers, community-based organizations, research and academic partners, funders, and other external stakeholders to translate project goals into clear work plans and deliverables. The role establishes and maintains effective project management systems; coordinates project activities and partner engagement; supports data collection, analysis, and dissemination; and ensures high-quality, timely completion of project deliverables. This position may require occasional travel.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in public health, health sciences, social sciences, research, health administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of progressively responsible experience in research, public health, healthcare, nonprofit, or related settings, including demonstrated responsibility for managing projects or programs.
  • Demonstrated experience developing work plans, establishing timelines and milestones, tracking deliverables, coordinating project activities, and ensuring projects remain on schedule.
  • Experience supporting or managing research activities, such as study design, literature reviews, data collection, qualitative or quantitative analysis, evaluation, interpretation of findings, and/or dissemination.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare reports, presentations, project updates, meeting materials, and other deliverables for technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Demonstrated ability to build collaborative relationships and work effectively with individuals and organizations representing diverse backgrounds, perspectives, and levels of technical expertise.
  • Commitment to health equity and improving health outcomes for medically underserved and historically marginalized communities.
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Mac OSX, Google Suite, project management, and conferencing technologies (e.g., Google Drive, Salesforce, Zoom Meetings, Zoom Video Webinars, etc.).
  • Must support and demonstrate the ability to implement the mission and goals of AAPCHO.
  • Master’s degree in public health, health services research, health informatics, social sciences, public policy, or a related field.
  • Experience working with federally qualified health centers (FQHCs), community health centers, or community-based organizations (CBOs).
  • Experience managing federally funded research or public health projects, including familiarity with grant deliverables, reporting requirements, and project monitoring.
  • Experience with community-based participatory research (CBPR), implementation research, evaluation, or other community-engaged research approaches.
  • Knowledge of health information technology, health data interoperability, electronic health records (EHRs), public health data systems, or data modernization.
  • Project management certification or formal training, such as PMP, CAPM, or equivalent, is a plus but not required.
