Reports to: Regional Director of Operations

Location: Nashville, Tennessee 

Employment Type: Full-Time, Exempt

Compensation: $56,000 annually 

Description:  

ELS is seeking an experienced, mission-driven Center Director to lead and manage the operations of our English language learning center. As the Center Director, you will oversee day-to-day operations, support student success, lead a high-performing team, and ensure financial and operational excellence. This is an exciting opportunity to make a direct impact in the lives of international students while managing a dynamic, service-focused environment.

Job Duties:  

The duties of this position include, but are not limited to: 

Leadership and Team Management

• Hire, lead, and mentor a diverse team, including administrative and academic staff
• Foster a collaborative, student-centered culture and ensure staff performance aligns with organizational goals
• Promote a positive, inclusive, and professional workplace

Student and Partner Relations

• Build strong relationships with university partners, landlords, referral sources, and the local community
• Develop and implement student support services that enhance satisfaction, retention, and success
• Counsel students as needed and maintain a welcoming environment
  

Operational Excellence

• Ensure compliance with internal policies, audit standards, and regulatory requirements
• Oversee center appearance, safety, and daily operations
• Utilize operational systems and tools effectively (e.g., Guesty, Odyssey)
  

Financial and Strategic Oversight

• Manage the center’s budget and fiscal operations, including tuition collection
• Analyze financial performance and identify opportunities for growth and efficiency
• Report regularly on KPIs and propose innovative strategies for center development

Academic Quality

• Support the delivery of a high-quality English language program
• Ensure materials and instruction meet ELS standards
• Collaborate with the Academic Director to uphold educational excellence

Education and Experience Required 

• Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred
• Proven leadership experience in education, international programs, or service-oriented operations
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Budget management and P&L experience preferred
• Passion for working with diverse student populations

Compensation and Benefits

Compensation: $56,000 annually

• This position will be eligible for health insurance, including options for medical plans, dental, vision, HSA or FSA plans, life insurance and AD&D, short-term disability, and long-term disability.
