At Intelic, we build advanced software for unmanned systems in the defense sector. Based in Amsterdam, we are a fast-growing team of engineers and defense experts developing Nexus — an intelligence platform that gives unmanned systems the speed, coordination, and reliability that critical missions demand. We work directly with military end users in active operational environments, and that frontline connection is at the core of everything we build.
Our software is being used on the frontline in Ukraine every day. The people who fly it face jamming, spoofing, fast-changing TTPs, and conditions no simulation fully captures. We need someone who understands that world — not just in theory, but from hands-on flight experience — and can bring those realities into how we train operators and shape our product. This role bridges the gap between product development in the Netherlands and operational execution in Ukraine and other high-risk environments.
Responsibilities
~1 min read- →
Operate and develop deep expertise across multiple UxV platforms (e.g. Quadcopters, fixed wings, VTOLs, UGVs)
- →
Travel to Ukraine periodically (roughly 4x per year) to connect with frontline units, observe how the software is used in live conditions, and bring that insight back.
- →
Translate frontline observations into concrete training scenarios and material updates, working closely with the Defense Training Specialist and product team.
- →
Shape training content to reflect real battlefield conditions — jamming environments, spoofing threats, multi-drone coordination under pressure.
- →
Support field trips and end-user engagement: gathering feedback, understanding operator pain points, and feeding that into product and training development.
- →
Collaborate with validation and forward operations to stay current on software updates and ensure training always reflects the latest version.
- →
Support validation through QA/QC, testing new software updates and features to ensure they meet the rigorous demands of the field before deployment.
500+ proven flight hours across one or more UxV platforms — combat/operational experience is a strong plus, civil experience (infrastructure, inspection, racing) is also valued.
Genuine understanding of how drones are used in combat or high-stakes operational environments, particularly in Ukraine.
Familiarity with mission planning and C2 tools (e.g., Mission Planner or equivalent) — picking up our Nexus software will be straightforward if you have this foundation
Willingness and eligibility to travel to Ukraine and other risk-adjacent environments.
Curious, self-driven, and comfortable in an environment where processes are still being built.
Good communicator in English; Dutch and Ukrainian is a plus.
Working with military people is the point. You are drawn to that environment, you understand how soldiers think, and building trust with operators is something you actually care about
You are driven by a sense of purpose beyond the job itself — you want to contribute to a stronger, more capable Europe, and this role gives you a direct, visible way to do that
You are comfortable building things from zero — there is no playbook yet, and you will write it.
You can operate with a lot of autonomy, ask the right questions, and move without waiting to be told.
You are genuinely curious about the technology and want to understand it deeply enough to train others on it effectively.
Real ownership. You own how Intelic delivers; not just a single project, but the system that makes delivery work across teams and partners.
Shape the company. We are building our delivery function from the ground up. How you work becomes how we work.
See your decisions in the field. Your orchestration directly affects how technology gets deployed in real operations.
Learn fast. Direct partner contact, cross-functional ownership, and a team that takes craft seriously.
The mission is real. We build technology that makes Europe safer. That is not a tagline.
