- Monitors lumber flow and ensures lumber remains in a single layer from the unscrambler to the trimmer lug loader or stacker infeed chains.
- Lifts, pulls, and removes raw lumber, broken boards, trash, and other materials that are skewed or obstructing the unscrambler area.
- Removes trash, strips, and other waste materials and directs them to the appropriate waste conveyor.
- Maintains production flow and works to ensure efficient operation of the equipment and work area.
- Keeps the workstation and surrounding areas clean and free of sawdust, wood chips, bark, strips, debris, and other foreign objects.
- Monitors equipment operation and promptly notifies Supervisor and/or Maintenance of breakdowns or equipment issues.
- Communicates regularly and effectively with team members to support safe and efficient production.
- Participates in team efforts and assists coworkers within the assigned work area as needed.
- Follows established safety procedures, work practices, and company policies.
- Performs other duties and tasks as assigned.
Requirements
~1 min read- High school diploma or General Educational Development (GED).
- One year of related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential duties of the position.
- Ability to read, understand, and follow work-related documents, including safety rules, operating instructions, procedures, and equipment-related instructions.
- Basic math skills, including addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division.
- Ability to understand and follow written, verbal, and diagram-based instructions.
- Ability to communicate clearly and effectively with supervisors, Maintenance, and other team members.
- Ability to apply practical judgment and common-sense understanding to routine work situations.
- Ability to identify and respond appropriately to common production, material-flow, and equipment-related problems within the scope of the position.
- Ability to work safely and effectively in a fast-paced industrial environment.
- Ability to work independently and cooperatively as part of a team.

- While performing the duties and responsibilities of this job, the employee regularly stands and/or walks for extended periods of time throughout the shift.
- The employee is frequently required to reach, grasp, push, pull, bend, stoop, and perform repetitive movements.
- Handle, lift and maneuver lumber and wood products up to 50 pounds as required.
- Maintain sufficient balance, coordination, and mobility to work safely around production equipment.
- Use visual and auditory awareness to monitor lumber flow, equipment operation, warning signals, and surrounding activity.

- While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly exposed to moving mechanical parts and vibration from machinery such as saws, conveyors, and hydraulic systems.
- The employee is frequently exposed to airborne particles, including sawdust, wood chips, bark, lubricants, fumes, and the risk of electrical shock.
- The employee is occasionally exposed to wet or humid conditions, as well as high, precarious places including catwalks, scaffolding, and elevated work areas.
- The employee is also exposed to a variety of weather conditions, including heat, cold, rain, and snow, when working in or around outdoor areas of the facility.
- The noise level in the work environment is usually loud, requiring the consistent use of hearing protection in designated areas.
- The employee is required to wear personal protective equipment (PPE) as mandated by company policy and OSHA Standards, which may include: Safety glasses or face shields.
