Maintenance Lead - Mammoth Hot Springs - Yellowstone National Park

The Maintenance Lead is a year-round, fulltime position based out of Mammoth Hot Springs. The Maintenance Lead performs and oversees maintenance activities, assigns daily work, mentors seasonal employees, and ensures operations are completed efficiently and to high standards. The role supports positive guest and employee experiences by maintaining safe, functional, and reliable facilities.

• →Train, coach, and mentor maintenance employees to promote technical growth, safe work practices, and professional development.

• →Perform and oversee maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, installation, and seasonal opening and closing activities across facilities and infrastructure.
• →Coordinate and prioritize daily maintenance tasks to ensure efficient use of labor and resources.
• →Ensure all work is completed safely, accurately, and in a timely manner.
• →Respond to operational emergencies and assist in restoring critical services.
• →Identify recurring maintenance issues and recommend long-term corrective solutions. 
• →Maintain positive working relationships with guests, employees, contractors, and department partners.
• →Address maintenance concerns with urgency, professionalism, and a solutions-oriented approach.
• →Utilize the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to document labor, materials, asset history, and completed work.
• →Ensure all maintenance activities are properly documented and tracked.
• →Support preventive maintenance programs and asset preservation initiatives.
• →Assist with inventory control, material accountability, and responsible stewardship of company resources.
• →Promote efficient, cost-effective, and sustainable maintenance practices.
• →Champion a strong safety culture and ensure compliance with all company, OSHA, NFPA, and environmental requirements.
• →Conduct work safely and ensure proper use of tools, equipment, and personal protective equipment.
• →Participate in safety meetings, inspections, hazard assessments, and training activities.
• →Identify and address unsafe conditions and behaviors.
• →Provide timely updates regarding work progress, challenges, and operational impacts.
• →Collaborate with other departments to support operational goals and guest service objectives.
• →Represent the Engineering and Facilities Maintenance Department in a professional manner at all times.

• Advanced mechanical aptitude with strong troubleshooting and repair capabilities.
• Demonstrated leadership, coaching, and mentoring experience.
• Strong commitment to safety, customer service, and quality workmanship.
• Excellent communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
• Proven ability to prioritize multiple tasks and adapt to changing operational needs.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and CMMS software systems.
• Knowledge of OSHA, NFPA, and maintenance industry best practices.
• Ability to work independently while effectively leading a team.
• Positive attitude, strong work ethic, and commitment to continuous improvement.
• Ability to work weekends, holidays, overtime, and flexible schedules as needed.

• Journey-level experience in one or more skilled trades.
• Previous supervisory or lead maintenance experience.
• Experience in hospitality, lodging, resort, or facilities maintenance operations.
• Experience with preventive maintenance planning and asset management programs.
• Experience developing and training seasonal employees.

Physical Requirements include:

• Ability to work in confined spaces and at elevations exceeding 6,000 feet.
• Ability to walk extended distances over uneven terrain.
• Ability to climb stairs, ladders, and work from elevated surfaces.
• Ability to lift and carry up to 50 pounds.
• Ability to perform physically demanding work outdoors in varying weather conditions.
• Must be at least 21 years of age and possess a valid driver’s license with an acceptable driving record.
