Under the overall supervision of the Regional Supply Chain Officer and in close coordination with relevant units at mission and Administrative Centres, the Intern – Supply Chain will be responsible and accountable for managing the resources management functions in Senegal in line with IOM policies, standards and commitments.
Support the consolidation of procurement requisition forms; assist in verifying that they contain all required information and comply with the Purchase Authorization Matrix and relevant office instructions.
Assist in the preparation of tender documents, solicitation of bids and quotations; support the preparation of bid analysis summaries and share them with the requesting unit as directed.
Support the monitoring of open requisitions and follow up on the timely delivery of goods and services; assist in coordinating with receiving units to obtain satisfactory delivery notes.
Assist in reviewing vendor invoices and preparing payment requests for coordination with the Finance Unit.
Support the creation and maintenance of physical and electronic procurement records in accordance with IOM instructions and procedures; assist in retrieving and presenting information from the system.
Participate in market surveys to identify potential new suppliers and service providers; assist in gathering information on quality, pricing, and services.
Assist in tracking contractual agreements and monitoring office supplies; support the preparation of requisitions when required.
Provide support to fleet operations activities, including assistance with preparation of daily vehicle schedules and monitoring of vehicle logbooks.
Assist in supply chain tasks related to property and asset management, warehousing, and transportation, as directed.
Perform any other duties as may be assigned.
Build knowledge of supply chain processes by supporting procurement and other asset management activities in line with IOM procedures and instructions.
Strengthen procurement and compliance skills by assisting with the different steps of the procurement process.
Enhance analytical and coordination skills by contributing to market surveys and gathering relevant information to support decision making.
Gain professional experience in an international and multicultural environment by being exposed to IOM’s work and procedures.
The Intern will gain experience in working in an international multicultural environment, within the United Nations system.
Gain experience in organization, management, and international cooperation activities.
Gain a better understanding of IOM’s work, as an inter-governmental organization in the field of Migration, and work on formulating and editing institutional strategies, priorities and workplans.
The Intern can also access online training courses at the disposal of all IOM personnel.
The Intern will have the possibility to interact with IOM staff within Headquarters and IOM Missions.
Be enrolled in the final academic year of a first University degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent), or in a Master's degree or higher in Supply Chain, Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field; or,
Have graduated with a University degree in Business Administration, Finance, Accounting, or a related field, and if selected, must commence the internship within one year of graduation.
Experience in the usage of office software packages (MS Word, Excel, etc.) and knowledge of spreadsheet and data analysis; and,
Experience delivering high-quality outputs within set timeframes, demonstrating excellent time management and ability to prioritize tasks under tight deadlines.
Analytical skills;
Knowledge of supply chain rules and regulations; and,
Great attention to detail and ability to produce quality work according to set deadlines.
IOM’s official languages are English, French and Spanish. All staff members are required to be fluent in one of the three languages.
For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
Working knowledge of French is an advantage.

In general, the Internship Programme aims at attracting talented students and graduates who are either enrolled in the final academic year of a first university degree programme (minimum bachelor’s level or equivalent) or have graduated in the last 12 months.

Selection will be based on demonstrated qualifications, relevant experience, technical skills, and alignment with core competencies. The evaluation process may include a written assessment, and/or an interview.
Depending on experience and location, interns are granted a small monthly stipend to help offset costs. Interns benefiting from an internship allowance or scholarship granted by his/her university or other sponsoring body that includes financial remuneration or credits for coursework will not be eligible for the stipend.
IOM covers Interns against occupational accidents and illnesses under the Compensation Plan (CP), free of charge, for the duration of the assignment. IOM does not provide evacuation or medical insurance for reasons related to non-occupational accidents and illnesses. Interns are responsible for their own medical insurance for non-occupational accident or illness and will be required to provide written proof of such coverage before commencing work.
