Established in 1951, the International Organization for Migration (IOM) is a related organization of the United Nations (UN), and as the leading UN agency in the field of migration and works closely with governmental, intergovernmental and non-governmental partners. IOM is dedicated to promoting humane and orderly migration for the benefit of all. It does so by providing services and advice to governments and migrants.

Operational in Indonesia for more than 40 years, IOM Indonesia is working on a wide range of activities in partnership with the Government of Indonesia, civil society, private sector actors, migrants and communities. IOM Indonesia is engaged in several thematic areas, including: Counter-Trafficking (CT), Labour Migration and Social Inclusion (LMSI), Disasters, Climate and Resilience (DCR), Immigration and Border Governance (IBG), Refugee Care, Migration Health, Migration Governance and Resettlement and Voluntary Returns.

IOM provides humanitarian assistance to Rohingya refugees that disembark in Indonesia, including health, protection, shelter, Water, Sanitation and Hygiene (WASH), Multi‑Purpose Cash Assistance (MPCA), Non‑Food Items (NFI) and Mental Health and Psychosocial Support (MHPSS). IOM has a camp management role for the transit sites in Aceh where Rohingya refugees are temporarily accommodated upon disembarkation. Under direct Supervision of the Senior Project Associate (Coordination) and Overall supervision of the Programme Coordinator, the Project Assistant (Transit Site) will support the IOM Indonesia team with the management of the transit facilities where Rohingya refugees disembarking in Aceh province are being temporarily sheltered.

1.    Under the supervision of theSenior Project Associate, support camp management to meet the basic needs of the refugees according to Camp Coordination and Camp Management (CCCM) minimum standards and best practices;
2.    Work in close coordination with IOM Health, MHPSS and other teams to facilitate access to services for the refugees; 
3.    Coordinate closely with humanitarian partners, government actors, service providers on the site and during crisis of Rohingya refugee arrivals at any location in Aceh to ensure quality of humanitarian assistance;
4.     Provide need assessment (Include in emergency/ crisis setting) and developing the design of humanitarian response be coordinated with the refugee community; 
5.    Check that refugees are adequately represented,consulted and familiar with CFM (Complaint and Feedback Mechanism) implementation;
6.    Conduct protection risk mitigation and provide suggestions to improve the overall protection environment and safety for the refugees in close cooperation with IOM technical experts;
7.    Act as a focal point for all activities ongoing at the transit site;
8.    Support the IOM team to maintain and manage relations with the host community, local authorities and other key actors involved;
9.    Provide support with refugee movement in line with IOM guidelines and government regulation;
10.    Any other duties as required by the evolving situation.
 

Requirements

  • School diploma with four years of relevant experience; or,

  • Bachelor’s degree in Political or Social Sciences, Psychology, International Relations, Development Studies, Migration Studies, Human Rights, Law or related fields from an accredited academic institution with two years of relevant professional experience.

     

Accredited Universities are those listed in the UNESCO World Higher Education Database.

  • At least 2 years of experience in humanitarian,and development peace nexus programmes targeting migrants;
  • Experience working in community based project with strong engagement with relevants stakeholders from Government to non-government actors.
  •  Experience working in conflict sensitive setting would be advantage.
  • Experience in working with relevant non-governmental institutions, civil society organization or UN;
     
  • Excellent interpersonal skills;
  • Excellent stakeholder and community engagement;
  • Excellent in facilitation;
  • Strong in conflict resolution;
  • Respect for diversity;
  • Excellent organizational skills; ability to meet deadlines and work under pressure;
     

All IOM staff members in all categories are required to be fluent in one of the IOM's official languages (English, French, Spanish).

For this position, fluency in English and Bahasa Indonesia
