The Senior Engineer, Manufacturing (Automation) supports APAC Manufacturing Operations by providing manufacturing leadership, engineering expertise, and automation solutions for outsourced manufacturing partners in China and across APAC. This role serves as the key manufacturing liaison with contract manufacturing partners in China, driving productivity improvement, product transfer readiness, scalable manufacturing execution, and compliance with applicable quality and regulatory requirements.

Senior Engineer, Manufacturing China

1.     Manufacturing leadership oversight in China

a.    Lead and support contract manufacturing activities in China to ensure operational execution meets business expectations.

b.    Align daily, weekly, and monthly output requirements with planning, materials, and contract manufacturing teams.

c.     Coordinate capacity plan changes and drive output performance in line with planning requirements, while considering material constraints.

d.    Review, maintain, and negotiate contract manufacturer capacity, including manpower adjustments required to support production demand.

 

2.     Engineering expertise

a.    Own product first-pass yield performance and address quality concerns related to workmanship, process gaps, and manufacturing execution.

b.    Monitor product yield against published first-pass yield targets and drive corrective actions to address yield issues.

c.     Escalate, assign, and resolve yield-related issues in collaboration with relevant stakeholders.

d.    Develop and implement manufacturing best practices, process improvements, and engineering changes to improve quality, productivity, and scalability.

 

3.     Automation and process development

a.    Apply data analytics and automation tools such as Power BI, Power Apps, and AI-enabled applications to improve manufacturing visibility and decision-making.

b.    Drive manufacturing efficiency through application development, real-time monitoring, process optimisation, and data-driven analysis.

c.     Identify and eliminate waste through process automation, digital workflows, and real-time monitoring of key process parameters.

 

4.     Automation deployment

a.    Develop automation and semi-automation solutions to support contract manufacturers in APAC.

b.    Support the deployment and sustainment of automation solutions across APAC manufacturing operations.

c.     Support China-specific labelling, product, compliance, and local manufacturing requirements.

 

5.     Financial responsibility

a.     Manage China manufacturing-related OPEX, including consumables, maintenance costs, tooling, and other operational support expenses.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or above in Engineering, Manufacturing, Automation, Industrial Engineering, or a related technical discipline.
  • Minimum 5 to 7 years of relevant experience in engineering, manufacturing operations, automation, or an outsourced manufacturing environment.
  • c) Experience in a high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environment is considered an advantage.
  • Familiarity with FDA, ISO 13485, and applicable quality system requirements and practices.
