CHA Consulting, Inc. is currently seeking a Project Team Leader to join our Gas Team, with opportunities to work remotely or from Albany, NY; Syracuse, NY; Tampa, FL; or Norwell, MA. In this role, you will lead multidisciplinary teams, guide the successful delivery of subsurface gas and electric utility infrastructure initiatives, and help clients maximize the value of their natural gas and petroleum facility assets.

Responsibilities

  • →Lead and inspire a team of gas engineering professionals, keeping a pulse on team morale and engagement and fostering engagement, collaboration, and technical excellence
  • →Oversee staffing levels, resource allocation, and operational activities to support the successful delivery of gas infrastructure projects
  • →Mentor and develop technical staff and managers, promoting high‑quality work that meets safety, schedule, and budget expectations
  • →Directly manage subsurface gas and electric utility infrastructure projects of varying size and complexity, from planning and proposals through execution and closeout
  • →Monitor project financial performance, identify opportunities for improvement, and support business practice goals
  • →Maintain clear, consistent communication with leadership and project teams, sharing performance updates, milestones, and successes
  • →Champion quality control, risk management, regulatory compliance, and project audits to support safe, reliable, and resilient gas solutions
  • Bachelor’s degree in Civil, Mechanical, Environmental, or related Engineering discipline required; Master’s degree preferred
  • Minimum of 15 years of progressive engineering experience required, including technical leadership and client-facing project management experience
  • Experience managing utility infrastructure projects required
  • Professional Engineer (PE) license required
  • Expert knowledge of engineering fundamentals and specialty areas with a deep understanding of QA/QC procedures, business practices, and engineering laws
  • Advanced proficiency with engineering, computational, and modeling software (Revit, AutoCAD, MicroStation, etc.) as well as Microsoft Office required
  • Proven success as a leader and ability to lead multidisciplinary engineering teams—strategic, technically astute, and client-focused
  • An articulate and persuasive communicator, both one-on-one and in front of large groups
  • Participation in professional engineering societies/organizations preferred
  • Ability to inspire, motivate, and build relationships across the company, including managing task leaders and project managers
  • Strong ability to resolve matters in a timely manner and lead initiatives and projects to completion with a sense of urgency
  • Trustworthy and able to handle confidential matters, sensitive information, and challenging situations with discretion 
  • Demonstrated experience managing project budgets, financial performance, scope development, and proposal strategy
  • Experience supporting natural gas transmission and distribution systems, utility permitting and regulatory compliance, construction support, and engineering oversight preferred
  • Lead high-impact gas infrastructure projects that strengthen reliability and support the safe, efficient delivery of energy
  • Collaborate with experienced professionals who value technical excellence, knowledge sharing, and practical innovation
  • Thrive in a flexible, supportive environment while shaping complex utility projects and developing the next generation of technical leaders

Salary is based on a variety of factors, including, but not limited to, qualifications, experience, education, licenses, specialty, training, and fair market evaluation based on industry standards.
