IonQ’s newest generation of quantum computers, the IonQ Tempo, is the latest in a line of cutting-edge systems that have been helping customers and partners including Amazon Web Services, and AstraZeneca achieve 20x performance results and accelerate innovation in drug discovery, materials science, financial modeling, logistics, cybersecurity, and defense. In 2025, the company achieved 99.99% two-qubit gate fidelity, setting a world record in quantum computing performance.

Headquartered in College Park, Maryland, IonQ has operations in California, Colorado, Massachusetts, Tennessee, Washington, Italy, South Korea, Sweden, Switzerland, Canada, and the United Kingdom. Our quantum computing services are available through all major cloud providers, while we also meet the needs of networking and sensing customers across land, sea, air, and space. IonQ is making quantum platforms more accessible and impactful than ever before.

We are looking for a Factory Planner to join our Supply Chain team. As a Factory Planner, you'll be part of a cross-functional team whose mission is to lead IonQ on its journey to build the world's best quantum computers to solve the world's most complex problems.

In this role, you will own the production schedule that connects demand to the shop floor — translating forecast and firm demand into executable build plans, releasing and maintaining work orders in the ERP, and driving material availability so that manufacturing has the right parts, in the right quantity, at the right time.

This is a hands-on planning role in a high-mix, evolving manufacturing environment. Engineering changes are frequent, lead times are long, and the build plan shifts as priorities change. The ideal candidate is someone who is disciplined about data hygiene in the ERP, communicates clearly with production and procurement, and has the judgment to know which fires actually need putting out.

Responsibilities

~1 min read
  • 3+ years of production planning, master scheduling, or materials planning experience in a manufacturing environment, or an equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Supply Chain, Operations, Industrial Engineering, Business, or a related field, or equivalent practical experience
  • Working knowledge of MRP/ERP systems and the logic behind them (planned orders, pegging, exception messages, planning parameters)
  • Strong Excel skills — pivot tables, lookups, and the ability to build a working analysis without waiting on a report request
  • Demonstrated ability to read and interpret BOMs, routings, and engineering drawings
  • Clear written and verbal communication; comfortable pushing back on unrealistic requests with data

Requirements

~3 min read
  • Experience with NetSuite or a comparable Tier 1/Tier 2 ERP
  • Background in high-mix / low-volume, prototype-to-production, or new product introduction environments
  • APICS/ASCM certification (CPIM, CSCP) or active pursuit
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing, kanban, or pull-based replenishment
  • Experience supporting engineering change orders and revision-controlled builds
  • Working knowledge of business intelligence reporting tools
