Our Oncology team is focused on eliminating cancer by advancing transformational science and delivering innovative therapies for patients with hematologic malignancies and solid tumors. Across hematology, including multiple myeloma, our work spans established treatments, new indications, emerging assets and disease education initiatives that address unmet needs across the patient journey.

We are seeking a strategic, collaborative and highly motivated communications professional to help shape and complete U.S. Oncology communications strategies that reinforce Johnson & Johnson’s leadership in multiple myeloma and hematology. The Senior Manager will lead integrated communications supporting portfolio landmarks, disease education, patient and caregiver storytelling, major U.S. congresses, media relations and external engagement. This work will help demonstrate the impact of our therapies on patients, support access and uptake, and strengthen Johnson & Johnson’s leadership and reputation in Oncology and hematology.

This individual will collaborate with cross-functional partners and direct agency execution to deliver high-quality, integrated communications programs.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement integrated communications and public affairs strategies for the current U.S. hematology portfolio and future indications and product launches.
  • Serve as the communications lead for assigned portfolio priorities, partnering with business leaders and cross-functional colleagues to support disease education, scientific and data milestones, regulatory decisions, approvals and launches.
  • Provide strategic external communications support across the hematology business, including press releases, media materials, executive content, key business updates, congress communications and issues management, helping generate sustained, compliant news flow across traditional, digital and social channels.
  • Lead, curate and activate compelling patient and caregiver storytelling across branded and unbranded channels, working with advocacy organizations and cross-functional partners to illustrate patient impact and elevate the patient experience.
  • Partner with Global Corporate Media Relations to architect and activate national, trade and regional media relations strategies that strengthen Johnson & Johnson’s leadership, support access and deepen uptake across the hematology portfolio.
  • Partner with Global Communications to develop and implement integrated communications strategies around major U.S. medical congresses, using data, patient stories, media engagement, executive visibility and portfolio storytelling to elevate Johnson & Johnson’s leadership and reputation.
  • Translate sophisticated science, portfolio strategy and patient needs into clear, compelling narratives for external and internal audiences.
  • Find opportunities to elevate Johnson & Johnson’s leadership in multiple myeloma and hematology through thought leadership, stakeholder engagement, corporate storytelling and reputation-building initiatives.
  • Coordinate with advocacy organizations to advance disease education initiatives and patient-centered communications programs.
  • Cultivate positive relationships with business leaders, cross-functional collaborators and communications partners across U.S. Oncology, Global and Enterprise functions.
  • Drive effective pull-through of portfolio-wide reputation programs, disease education initiatives and branded and unbranded communications campaigns across relevant audiences and channels.
  • Lead proactive issues identification, scenario planning and issues management related to assigned hematology portfolio priorities in partnership with cross-functional colleagues.
  • Coordinate the development, review, approval and dissemination of communications materials to ensure quality, accuracy and adherence to Johnson & Johnson policies and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Establish measurement plans, assess program performance and apply audience, media and program insights to strengthen communications strategies and execution in a dynamic environment.
  • Direct communications agency partners, contractors, project plans and budgets, ensuring strong strategic counsel, high-quality execution and timely delivery.

Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant external and internal communications experience, including growing responsibility in a corporate, agency, nonprofit, government or regulated healthcare environment.
  • Demonstrated expertise in strategic planning and integrated communications program development and execution.
  • Proven experience developing and activating national, trade and regional media relations strategies, including preparing spokespeople and engaging with reporters.
  • Experience supporting disease awareness, product communications, scientific communications and/or approval and launch landmarks in a regulated environment.
