Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm
Job Summary: The Marketing Coordinator III oversees marketing, promotion, and publicity functions for a college, division, or the University under minimal supervision. Creates and implements marketing strategies using advertising, media, direct mail, etc. Coordinates production of materials specified in marketing plans and calendars. Consults with product and/or program development.
Additional Department Summary: Advances The University of Alabama’s institutional brand through integrated marketing initiatives. Serves as the day-to-day lead for executing the University’s brand marketing strategy. Coordinates efforts across the Division of Strategic Communications to support institutional priorities and brand growth.
Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree and four (4) years of marketing, public relations, communications, or advertising experience; OR master's degree and two (2) years of marketing, public relations, communications, or advertising experience.
Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: A portfolio or submission of relevant work samples is required.
Skills and Knowledge: Strong understanding of brand positioning, messaging, and voice, with the ability to translate an established brand into audience-appropriate marketing communications across channels and integrated marketing initiatives. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines. Ability to learn emerging platforms and apply new tools to improve marketing effectiveness. Strong project management skills. Knowledge of AP style. Strong copywriting, editing, and proofreading skills.
Preferred Qualifications: Experience in higher education, institutional marketing, brand marketing, reputation marketing, or another complex brand environment. Experience coordinating integrated paid, owned, and earned marketing campaigns. Experience with Google Analytics, Data Studio, Microsoft Power BI, paid social and digital advertising platforms, media buying, audience research, agency or vendor management, and artificial intelligence applications in marketing. Experience with project management and providing direction to writers, designers, photographers, videographers, web teams, and content creators. Demonstrated experience planning and executing integrated marketing campaigns, coordinating cross-functional teams, developing campaign reports, and using performance data to inform marketing recommendations.
