Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; hours may vary; evening & weekend hours as necessary.

Job Summary: The Research Navigator provides individualized, ongoing guidance, education, and assistance with completing study requirements. Provides additional support, information, and resources to the participant based on their personal needs.


Additional Department Summary: The University of Alabama (UA) West Alabama Cardiovascular Health (WACH) Program is designed to improve heart health in our rural communities. The program focuses on addressing social determinants of health and deploying education programming.

This position leads the recruitment of prenatal and postnatal participants, retention, and data collection and oversee up to two undergraduate researchers. Provides participant support services to WACH participants and will maintain their own case load of WACH research study participants. Support services include individualized, ongoing guidance, education, and assistance with completing study requirements including preparation for the collection of data via behavioral assessments. Provides additional support, information, and resources to the participant based on their personal needs. Data collection tasks include administering and overseeing the self-completion of specific questionnaires by the participant.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.


Skills and Knowledge: Excellent interpersonal communication skills, both verbal and written. Excellent organized skills and attention to detail. Ability to work well with others. Basic proficiency with office software (Microsoft Office, Google Suite) and familiarity with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) systems. Ability to prioritize tasks, manage time effectively, and handle multiple patient needs simultaneously.


Preferred Qualifications: Bachelor's degree in healthcare, social work, or a related field. Two (2) years of experience in a healthcare, customer service, or social services role, particularly in a patient-focused environment. Experience in large team settings.
