Normal Work Schedule: Monday - Friday 8:00am to 5:00pm; some evenings & weekends as necessary

Job Summary: The Research Project Coordinator supports the overall development of research project(s). Assists with project design, management, and implementation. Promotes the project and serves as liaison between the project and contacts internal and external to the University. May supervise students, provide general office assistance, create promotional materials, and assist in the development of other potential projects.


Additional Department Summary: The H.O.P.E. Child and Adolescent Behavioral Health Initiative in Rural Alabama will build a consortium of local partners in Pickens County and surrounding areas to provide services that address youth mental health and substance use problems along the entire continuum of care, including prevention, treatment, and recovery. Services will be delivered to youth and their families (if indicated) through Pickens County schools in year one and additional counties in subsequent years, and will use evidence-based, strength-based, and trauma-informed approaches. H.O.P.E. will provide training and mentorship to school personnel, professionals, and paraprofessionals in the areas of youth mental health, substance use, adverse family experiences, and trauma.

Assists the Program Director, as needed, in all aspects to successfully implement the grant activities as outlined in the work plan of this program. This includes, but is not limited to, implementing all family prevention/intervention programs in Pickens County and surrounding areas. Family intervention/prevention programs, such as FAST, are implemented outside of regular working hours, which will require the program coordinator to work some evenings. The program coordinator serves as a liaison between HDFS and ADMH and assists with data collection and reporting requirements as required by HRSA.


Required Minimum Qualifications: Bachelor's degree or higher and some experience coordinating projects.


Additional Required Department Minimum Qualifications: Must have a valid U.S. driver's license. Must be at least 19 years of age at the time of hire and have an acceptable Motor Vehicle Report that is in compliance with University policies. Applicants under the age of 21 will have some driving restrictions.


Skills and Knowledge: Effective communication and writing skills. Basic computer skills (word processing, email, keyboard, and other typical office equipment, including a telephone). Ability to effectively interact and collaborate with team members.


Preferred Qualifications: Master's degree in a health or human development related field. Experience with grant writing, management, and reporting requirements.
