As a Business Intelligence Architect, you will lead a major data warehouse and reporting transformation for a financial institution, bridging a legacy Microsoft-based environment with a modern cloud data platform. You’ll maintain and enhance existing SQL Server, SSIS, and SSRS solutions while designing and executing the migration to Snowflake and Sigma. The role combines hands-on data architecture, modeling, ETL development, reporting, and technical leadership. You’ll translate existing data structures and reporting logic into modern, scalable solutions while ensuring accuracy and continuity throughout the transition. Working directly with technical teams and client stakeholders, you’ll manage migration risks, dependencies, documentation, and validation. This is a remote-first opportunity for a technically strong professional who enjoys solving complex data challenges in a regulated financial environment.

Serve as the technical architect for the transformation of a SQL Server, SSIS, and SSRS environment into Snowflake and Sigma.
Maintain and support the existing SQL Server-based data warehouse, ETL pipelines, reporting environment, and operational data processes throughout the migration.
Design, implement, and maintain data models using established data modeling methodologies and tools.
Develop and document ETL workflows using SSIS, PowerShell, T-SQL, and related Microsoft technologies.
Design target-state Snowflake data models that accurately translate existing schemas and relationships while identifying opportunities for improvement.
Re-engineer legacy SSIS workflows into modern Snowflake-based ingestion and transformation pipelines.
Rebuild SSRS reports and dashboards as Sigma workbooks and reports, validating data, logic, outputs, and accuracy against legacy solutions.
Create and maintain reporting solutions that provide timely and accurate information for business and management decision-making.
Develop clear source-to-target mappings covering SQL Server-to-Snowflake data integration and SSRS-to-Sigma reporting transformations.
Plan and coordinate migration phases, cutovers, and parallel-run validation to minimize disruption to ongoing reporting and data operations.
Identify data inconsistencies, anomalies, performance issues, and scripting problems, recommending and implementing improvements.
Participate in requirements gathering, technical peer reviews, troubleshooting, application development, and cross-functional project activities.
Communicate migration progress, technical decisions, risks, and potential system issues clearly to technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Track and resolve end-user issues while providing timely project and operational support.
Support scheduled off-hours upgrades or migration activities when required and maintain compliance with applicable banking and regulatory standards.

Requirements

5–8 years of relevant professional experience in business intelligence, data architecture, data engineering, database development, or a related field.
3–5 years of experience working within a traditional financial institution such as a bank or credit union.
Strong expertise with SQL Server, SSIS, SSRS, and SSAS, with the ability to support and modernize legacy data environments.
Hands-on experience with Snowflake and Sigma, ideally involving data warehouse or BI platform migration.
Strong understanding of data modeling, database design, ETL development, reporting, and application or systems architecture.
Experience with data modeling tools such as Sparx, Oxygen, Altova, Erwin, SQL Developer, or SQL Data Modeler.
Experience with BI and reporting platforms such as Sigma, Tableau, Power BI, and SSRS.
Knowledge of software development using Visual Studio, VB, and/or C#, including web applications, Windows applications, services, APIs, and Web APIs.
Familiarity with integration technologies and interfaces such as Web API, TCP, UDP, databases, and web-based or legacy systems.
Proficiency with Microsoft development and productivity tools, including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Visio, as well as tools such as Lucid.
Strong understanding of statistics, finance, and retail and commercial banking concepts.
Exceptional attention to detail, data accuracy, quality, and analytical problem-solving.
Ability to communicate technical concepts, migration decisions, risks, and trade-offs effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong documentation skills, including the ability to create clear source-to-target mappings, migration plans, and technical materials.
Excellent time management and prioritization skills, with the ability to balance legacy support, migration activities, and multiple project schedules.
Self-motivated and accountable, with the initiative to stay current with modern analytics, cloud data warehousing, BI technologies, and industry trends.
Comfortable working independently in a remote-first environment while proactively collaborating with distributed teams and participating actively in virtual meetings.
