The Business Intelligence Developer II will build and maintain Power BI reporting solutions that support value-based healthcare programs.
You’ll work across data modeling, reporting, production pipelines, and data quality to turn complex datasets into useful business insights.
The role covers the full BI development lifecycle, from designing semantic models to publishing and maintaining client-facing dashboards.
You’ll also operate and improve production reporting processes using Azure Data Factory and Databricks.
Working alongside Software Engineers, Product Owners, and other stakeholders, you’ll translate reporting needs into reliable technical solutions.
The team follows an AI-first approach, using AI tools to accelerate development while emphasizing validation, accuracy, and sound BI practices.
This is a fully remote opportunity for an experienced BI professional who enjoys solving data challenges in a collaborative Agile environment.

Design, develop, and maintain Power BI reports, dashboards, and semantic models for internal and client-facing applications, using maintainable DAX and Power Query optimized for performance and usability.
Apply and help document Power BI development standards, including workspace organization, refresh management, performance optimization, and reusable development patterns.
Use AI-powered tools as a starting point for developing reports and models, while validating generated outputs against source data and business requirements before release.
Run and monitor production reporting processes, including data ingestion, Azure Data Factory pipelines, Databricks notebooks, output validation, and scheduled report delivery.
Build, maintain, and adapt Azure Data Factory pipelines as upstream data sources and requirements evolve.
Manage source control and pull requests through Azure DevOps or comparable Git-based tools, preparing pipeline and BI changes for production deployment.
Design and maintain SQL tables, views, and datasets using BI best practices such as dimensional modeling, consistent naming conventions, appropriate data grain, and star schema principles.
Validate report and data accuracy against source systems, troubleshoot issues, identify root causes, and recommend appropriate solutions.
Create and maintain documentation, runbooks, data definitions, and processes supporting ongoing reporting deliverables.
Deliver moderately complex BI and reporting projects with general guidance and clearly defined priorities.
Participate in Agile/Scrum ceremonies, including sprint planning, refinement, retrospectives, and peer reviews of BI deliverables.
Collaborate with Product and Account Management teams to understand reporting needs and translate business requirements into effective BI solutions.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, Data Analytics, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
At least 4 years of relevant experience in business intelligence, data engineering, or a closely related discipline.
Strong, hands-on experience with Power BI, including data modeling, DAX, Power Query, workspace administration, and refresh management.
Experience building, maintaining, and monitoring Azure Data Factory pipelines.
Familiarity with Azure Databricks, including running and maintaining notebooks and working with repositories.
Strong SQL skills with relational databases such as SQL Server, Azure SQL, or similar technologies, including query optimization and tuning.
Practical knowledge of BI data modeling principles, including dimensional modeling and star schema design.
Experience working with source control and pull requests through Azure DevOps or an equivalent Git-based platform.
Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving abilities, with an emphasis on data accuracy and quality.
Ability to work effectively in an Agile/Scrum environment and collaborate with Software Engineers, Product Owners, and business stakeholders.
Strong communication and documentation skills, with the ability to translate business requirements into clear technical deliverables.
Preferred experience with healthcare data, particularly post-acute or long-term care data and CMS public datasets.
Experience with R or Python in data pipelines, analytics, or related technical environments is a plus.
Exposure to predictive modeling or machine learning workflows is also beneficial.
