We are looking for an experienced professional to coordinate e-Science initiatives, research and development projects, and advanced digital infrastructure supporting scientific innovation.
In this role, you will oversee technology projects, ensuring efficient delivery, resource allocation, risk management, and continuous improvement.
You will lead the implementation and evolution of e-Science network infrastructure and support services, maintaining high standards of performance, security, and reliability.
Working closely with research institutions, scientific communities, and technology teams, you will help translate research needs into effective technological solutions.
You will also foster strategic partnerships, promote technology adoption, and contribute to national and international research collaboration initiatives.
This is an opportunity to combine technical expertise, project leadership, and people management to strengthen Brazil's scientific and technological ecosystem.
The position follows a hybrid work model, with occasional visits to offices in Brasília, Campinas, or Rio de Janeiro and availability for business travel.

Research and Development Project Management: Coordinate technology development, ICT infrastructure implementation, and data-driven scientific process improvement projects. Manage schedules, deliverables, budgets, resources, and risks, while overseeing technology pilots, testing, and proof-of-concept initiatives.

e-Science Infrastructure and Service Management: Lead the implementation, operation, maintenance, and continuous evolution of e-Science network infrastructure and support services. Oversee technical specifications, procurement, deployment, monitoring, maintenance, and technology upgrades.

Service Quality and Governance: Ensure infrastructure availability, performance, security, and reliability. Define and monitor service-level indicators, operational capacity, and risks, while maintaining technical standards, policies, procedures, and documentation.

Scientific Community and User Engagement: Identify the scientific, technical, and operational needs of researchers, ICT managers, and other stakeholders. Promote the adoption of digital research infrastructure, support the onboarding of new institutions, and communicate available services and project outcomes.

Institutional Relations and Strategic Partnerships: Represent the organization at national and international meetings, conferences, committees, and technology forums. Build relationships with research institutions, funding agencies, and strategic partners to strengthen collaboration and expand the impact of e-Science initiatives.

Research, Development, and Innovation: Contribute to funding proposals, evaluate emerging technologies, identify innovation opportunities, and support the preparation of technical reports, scientific publications, and project documentation.

People and Resource Management: Lead, develop, and support the technical team by defining priorities, distributing responsibilities, monitoring performance, and encouraging continuous learning. Manage project budgets and financial execution while ensuring alignment with organizational strategies and policies.

Continuous Improvement and Risk Management: Identify opportunities to improve processes, services, and technological solutions. Establish action plans, monitor implementation, and coordinate stakeholders to address operational challenges and achieve project objectives.

Requirements

Education: Postgraduate qualification in Project Management or a related field.

Project Management Experience: Proven experience coordinating or participating in Research, Development, and Innovation (R&D&I) projects, including managing complex initiatives involving multiple stakeholders.

Leadership and Team Management: Experience leading teams, setting priorities, coordinating activities, monitoring performance, and supporting professional development.

Technical Knowledge: Familiarity with computer networks, distributed systems, e-Science applications, and digital infrastructure supporting scientific research.

Technology Evaluation: Ability to assess emerging technologies, identify industry trends, and recommend innovative solutions and process improvements.

Project and Financial Management: Experience managing project budgets, financial resources, schedules, deliverables, and risks. Familiarity with remote project management and tracking tools is also required.

Scientific Research Understanding: Understanding of how scientific research is conducted and the technological infrastructure required to support data-intensive research and collaboration.

Communication and Presentation Skills: Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare professional presentations, deliver talks, engage users, and coordinate technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Language Proficiency: Fluency in Portuguese, with excellent written communication skills, and a good command of English for reading, writing, and conversation.

Availability: Willingness and ability to travel as required.

Experience in customer service or client relationship management.

Experience in IT support, particularly for users of supercomputing or high-performance computing (HPC) systems.

Additional knowledge of computer science and e-Science applications.

Experience participating in R&D&I projects funded by government agencies or public funding institutions.

Experience managing funded research projects and preparing financial reports and accountability documentation.

Basic knowledge of Spanish.
