The Medical Science Liaison is a field-based member of a Canadian Medical Affairs team, building trusted scientific relationships across the healthcare community.
You will engage with key thought leaders, healthcare professionals, organizations, and professional societies to support scientific exchange.
The role focuses on delivering accurate, current medical and scientific information related to disease states and treatment options.
You will contribute to education programs, scientific meetings, advisory activities, clinical research, and other medical initiatives.
The position combines scientific expertise, stakeholder engagement, public speaking, and cross-functional collaboration.
You will also support internal training and help strengthen understanding of medical and scientific topics across the organization.
This is a highly field-oriented role requiring approximately 75% regular domestic or international travel and strong initiative.
In this role, you will serve as a scientific liaison between the organization and the healthcare community, supporting medical education, scientific engagement, research activities, and strategic Medical Affairs initiatives.
- Establish and maintain professional scientific relationships with key thought leaders, regional advocates, healthcare organizations, professional societies, and government contacts.
- Provide accurate and up-to-date scientific information supporting product and disease strategies.
- Build strong professional relationships with medical professionals and clinic staff.
- Represent the organization at national and regional scientific meetings and professional congresses.
- Collaborate with the Medical Advisor on the development and coordination of sponsored symposia and speaker programs.
- Identify and develop advocates for participation in sponsored clinical trials, scientific symposia, speaker programs, and advisory boards.
- Follow up on unsolicited investigator-initiated research proposals and publication opportunities.
- Support the training of sales and business personnel on relevant medical and scientific topics.
- Develop territory routing to effectively address medical information needs across the assigned geography.
- Conduct round tables and group scientific exchanges with key opinion leaders and healthcare professionals.
- Maintain effective budgetary control of medical expenses.
- Complete required administrative responsibilities accurately and on time.
- Ensure activities are conducted in accordance with applicable organizational, federal, and provincial laws and regulations.
Requirements

- Doctoral degree required: MD, PharmD, or PhD.
- Minimum 3 years of directly related professional experience.
- Relevant experience in Medical Affairs, aesthetics, or dermatology is an asset.
- Previous experience within a pharmaceutical or startup organization.
- Field-based experience is an asset.
- Fluency in French is mandatory.
- Advanced knowledge or fluency in English is required due to collaboration with English-speaking colleagues, customers, and regions outside Quebec.
- Strong understanding of Health Canada, FDA current Good Manufacturing Practices, PAAB, Rx&D, PMPRB, and other relevant regulatory requirements.
- Knowledge of pharmacology, pharmaceutical principles, and their practical application.
- Understanding of statistical and mathematical principles used in clinical studies.
- Familiarity with basic research, mechanisms of action, and preclinical studies.
- Strong public speaking, scientific storytelling, and presentation capabilities.
- Ability to research, analyze, evaluate, and effectively communicate medical and scientific information.
- Ability to influence, persuade, and make effective recommendations.
- Strong relationship-building skills with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple projects and assignments within established timelines.
- Self-motivated, proactive, and comfortable taking initiative.
- Willingness and ability to travel regularly, including approximately 75% in-country or international travel.
