The position spans newsletters, web and SharePoint content, briefings, infographics, deployment messaging, outreach campaigns, and digital channels.
You will communicate complex health IT and electronic health record initiatives to diverse technical, clinical, operational, and leadership audiences.
The role combines strategic communications planning with hands-on writing, editing, content production, and channel management.
You will work closely with clinical informaticists, change management professionals, business stakeholders, and Agile delivery teams.

Develop comprehensive communication plans, calendars, and messaging strategies tailored to clinical, operational, technical, and partner audiences.

Write, edit, and produce high-quality communications products, including newsletters, fact sheets, web and SharePoint content, executive briefings, infographics, outreach materials, and other information products.

Manage content for health informatics communities of practice and related communication channels used to distribute guidance and updates across medical facilities.

Develop outreach and educational materials supporting health information exchange with patients, community providers, and industry partners.

Create deployment and adoption communications for electronic health record transitions, VistA/CPRS changes, and initiatives designed to reinforce effective technology use.

Develop communications supporting informatics workforce development, training, engagement, and organizational change initiatives.

Draft press materials, talking points, responses to information requests, and other public affairs content for government review and release.

Create and schedule content for approved internal and social media channels while monitoring engagement and audience response.

Ensure communications products comply with Section 508 accessibility requirements, plain-language principles, branding standards, and applicable communication policies.

Track communication reach, engagement, and effectiveness, using insights to recommend improvements to messaging and delivery strategies.

Participate in Agile planning intervals, iteration ceremonies, system demonstrations, and related activities while coordinating communications timelines with feature delivery.

Collaborate with clinical, technical, operational, and leadership stakeholders to translate complex initiatives into accessible and actionable communications.
Requirements

Hold a Bachelor's degree; a degree in communications, journalism, public relations, or a related discipline is preferred.

Bring at least 8 years of professional experience in communications, public relations, corporate communications, or a related field.

Demonstrate strong experience writing, editing, and producing professional information products such as newsletters, web content, press materials, executive briefings, and educational resources.

Have experience managing communication channels, including internal communications platforms and social media.

Demonstrate the ability to tailor messaging for diverse audiences, including senior leaders, technical professionals, clinicians, operational teams, and external partners.

Experience supporting communications within the VA, VHA, federal healthcare, or another government healthcare environment is highly desirable.

Experience communicating health IT, electronic health record, interoperability, or technology changes to clinical audiences is preferred.

Be comfortable working with tools such as SharePoint, Microsoft Teams, and digital design platforms, with experience using Adobe Creative Suite or Canva considered an advantage.

Understand and apply Section 508 accessibility requirements and plain-language standards.

Experience supporting change management communications is preferred; Prosci certification is a plus.

Experience working within SAFe, Scrum, or other Agile delivery environments is advantageous.

Demonstrate excellent writing, editing, organization, communication, and stakeholder-management skills.

Be able to work collaboratively with multidisciplinary teams while managing multiple priorities and deadlines.

Be authorized to work in the United States, reside and work within the United States, and be able to obtain and maintain the required VA background investigation.
