This role serves as a subject matter expert for U.S. customs and international trade compliance within a global healthcare environment.
You will oversee import and export activities while helping the business navigate complex regulatory requirements.
The position combines compliance expertise, data analysis, project leadership, and cross-functional collaboration.
You will work closely with logistics, purchasing, materials management, suppliers, affiliates, and other stakeholders.
A key focus will be maintaining accurate classification, valuation, origin determinations, documentation, and transaction reviews.
You will also identify compliance risks, cost-saving opportunities, and opportunities to improve processes through automation.
Based in Princeton, New Jersey, the role is primarily on-site and includes up to 10% business travel.

Serve as a subject matter expert on customs and trade compliance, supporting compliant import and export activities and advising business stakeholders on applicable requirements.
Lead or participate in site and divisional customs and trade compliance projects, applying advanced knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations and business requirements.
Ensure accurate classification, valuation, and country-of-origin determinations for imported goods, including non-commercial shipments.
Manage responses to customs broker requests for information and support resolution of outstanding compliance matters.
Support U.S. Customs and Border Protection activities, including Requests for Information, Post-Entry Amendments, Prior Disclosures, and reconciliation-related analyses.
Review and audit import/export transactions and records to identify compliance gaps, risks, and opportunities for improvement.
Analyze import and export data to identify potential savings and provide recommendations that balance regulatory compliance with financial objectives.
Evaluate eligibility for Free Trade Agreement preferences and support related documentation and compliance requirements.
Design and implement automation or process-improvement solutions that increase efficiency and strengthen compliance monitoring.
Partner with logistics, purchasing, materials management, affiliates, suppliers, and other functions to address customs matters and provide import/export compliance training.
Implement corrective actions resulting from compliance assessments and help ensure issues are addressed appropriately and promptly.
Stay current on customs, FDA, USDA, and other applicable U.S. government import regulations and communicate relevant changes to stakeholders.
Handle confidential financial and business information appropriately, including matters subject to attorney, consultant, or client privilege where applicable.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in business, logistics, transportation, international trade, or a related field, or equivalent relevant qualifications.
At least 4 years of experience in customs compliance and/or international trade.
Strong working knowledge of U.S. import/export regulations and requirements, including customs classification, valuation, origin, and applicable government agency requirements.
Strong analytical skills with excellent attention to detail and the ability to evaluate complex trade data, compliance issues, and business alternatives.
Effective written, verbal, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to collaborate across multiple functional areas.
Ability to manage multiple priorities simultaneously, organize work effectively, and operate with general direction while exercising sound judgment.
Ability to identify compliance risks and opportunities and translate findings into practical recommendations for management.
Experience supporting customs audits, regulatory inquiries, transactional reviews, or corrective-action initiatives is valuable.
Licensed Customs Broker or Certified Customs Specialist credentials are preferred.
Ability to maintain confidentiality when working with sensitive financial and business information.
Willingness and ability to work primarily on-site in Princeton, New Jersey, with up to 10% travel.
