This role focuses on building AI-powered systems and engineering tools that multiply the effectiveness of development teams.
You will work across frontend, backend, AI/ML, infrastructure, and field engineering to understand workflows and eliminate technical friction.
The position combines platform engineering, developer experience, infrastructure, automation, and experimentation with emerging AI technologies.
You will evaluate tools from frontier AI labs, cloud providers, and infrastructure platforms, then integrate the most valuable capabilities into scalable internal systems.
The role involves architecting high-throughput CI/CD environments, agent-enabled workflows, and platforms designed for both human and AI-agent users.
You will operate with significant autonomy in a rapidly evolving technical landscape where solutions may need to be continuously adapted as technology advances.
Success means earning the trust of engineers, accelerating delivery, driving adoption, and creating tools that deliver measurable impact in production.

Work directly with engineering teams and leadership to identify productivity opportunities, determine what to measure, and prioritize what to build or adopt.
Learn how different engineering teams work, identify workflow bottlenecks, and design solutions that improve development speed, quality, and throughput.
Evaluate emerging software development tools, AI capabilities, infrastructure technologies, cloud services, and platforms to determine their practical value.
Integrate promising technologies into the engineering environment by understanding their capabilities, limitations, extensibility, and operational requirements.
Partner with individual contributors and engineering teams to introduce new tools, gather feedback, and continuously iterate on solutions.
Design systems and workflows that can be consumed effectively by both human developers and AI agents.
Build and improve CI/CD pipelines optimized for high throughput, automation, and agent interaction.
Develop and maintain application platforms supporting both external product development and internal engineering use cases.
Drive distribution, adoption, and usability of productivity tools, reducing friction and creating systems engineers actively want to use.
Collect qualitative feedback and technical telemetry to maintain visibility into tool performance, adoption, and engineering needs.
Create reusable tools and systems that provide extensibility while minimizing learning curves and adoption barriers.
Stay current on rapidly evolving AI, infrastructure, and developer tooling trends and develop informed perspectives on which technologies to pursue.
Operate across multiple concurrent projects, balancing rapid experimentation with sound long-term engineering judgment.
Participate in engineering on-call rotations and contribute to reliable production operations.

Requirements

4+ years of experience in Platform, Infrastructure, Developer Experience, DevEx, DevOps, or related engineering roles.
Proven ability to independently architect and deliver complex systems with minimal oversight.
Strong experience with APIs, distributed systems, cloud infrastructure, and data-intensive applications.
Hands-on experience with AI agent primitives such as Skills, MCPs, Hooks, SDKs, multi-agent systems, routing, context management, and cost management.
Experience with configuration management tools such as Nix/NixOS, Homebrew, or MDM platforms.
Strong experience with Kubernetes and AWS.
Professional development experience with Terraform, Go, and TypeScript.
Significant Linux administration experience.
Experience working with Git and modern software development workflows.
Experience using CI tooling or platforms and building reliable continuous integration and delivery workflows.
Experience participating in a regular engineering on-call rotation.
Previous experience working in startup environments.
Ability to thrive in ambiguous, rapidly changing environments where requirements and priorities evolve quickly.
Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong ownership, execution, problem-solving, and systems-thinking skills.
Genuine interest in improving engineering productivity, iteration speed, and customer impact.
Experience deploying AI systems in enterprise environments is a plus.
Experience integrating third-party enterprise systems and APIs is a plus.
Familiarity with authentication, security constraints, and enterprise IT environments is beneficial.
Experience debugging production issues in unfamiliar codebases is valued.
Experience with Argo, cdk8s, OpenTelemetry, Observe, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Spacelift, CircleCI, and/or GitHub Actions is a plus.
Comfort balancing rapid delivery and experimentation with long-term engineering quality is preferred.
