This role offers the opportunity to lead the regulatory approval strategy for AI-driven property and catastrophe risk models across all 51 U.S. jurisdictions. You will own multistate filings from preparation through approval, combining regulatory expertise with strong technical writing and stakeholder management. The role sits at the intersection of insurance, actuarial science, data science, and emerging AI technologies. You will work closely with regulators, carrier clients, internal technical teams, and external advisors to navigate complex filing requirements. As the regulatory footprint expands, you will also help build scalable processes, tools, and standards that make the filing function more efficient. This is a high-impact role for an experienced insurance regulatory professional who enjoys working independently in a fast-paced, business-driven environment.
- Lead the drafting, submission, and defense of AI and predictive model filings through SERFF, including model checklists, methodology narratives, validation summaries, and variable justifications.
- Manage regulatory objections and interrogatories, coordinating with data science, actuarial, product, and external legal teams to deliver timely and effective responses.
- Build and improve processes, tools, and standards that enable consistent and scalable multistate filings as the regulatory footprint grows.
- Support carrier clients with rate and underwriting filings that incorporate AI-driven models, including responding to department questions and participating in client meetings and working sessions.
- Monitor state insurance requirements, regulatory bulletins, and department positions, translating developments into practical internal guidance and client communications.
- Help navigate regulatory requirements related to emerging AI, predictive analytics, third-party data, and catastrophe modeling.
- Represent the regulatory function with regulators, carrier partners, industry groups, and other external stakeholders.
- Use AI tools and automation to improve regulatory workflows, documentation, research, and filing efficiency.
Requirements
~2 min read- 6+ years of U.S. property and casualty insurance experience in regulatory affairs, compliance, product management, actuarial work, or a related discipline, ideally within a carrier, rating or advisory organization, department of insurance, or filing consultancy.
- Demonstrated hands-on ownership of multistate P&C rate, rule, and form filings in SERFF, from drafting through approval, including direct management of objections and responses with department analysts and actuaries.
- Strong understanding of rating plans, rate and rule manuals, class plans, and supporting actuarial documentation.
- Exceptional technical and persuasive writing skills, with the ability to translate complex technical and statistical information into clear filing narratives suitable for regulatory review.
- Experience using AI tools such as Claude as part of daily work, including developing prompts, templates, workflows, or other tooling that improves team productivity.
- Strong communication and relationship-management skills, with professionalism and composure when working with regulators, carrier clients, industry organizations, and external advisors.
- Ability to independently own complex workstreams, exercise sound judgment, prioritize effectively, and identify when escalation is appropriate.
- Bachelor's degree and legal eligibility to work in the United States.
- An actuarial designation such as ACAS or FCAS is strongly preferred; CPCU, ARM, AINS, or relevant actuarial coursework is also valued.
- Experience with predictive, machine learning, or catastrophe model filings, model governance, or third-party model review requirements is a plus.
- Familiarity with NAIC model laws, regulatory bulletins, and initiatives concerning AI, third-party data, and third-party models is preferred.
- Experience creating AI-assisted workflows, prompts, or agents adopted by other team members is advantageous.
- Background with rating, advisory, or statistical organizations, or experience managing external filing consultants, actuarial consultants, or regulatory counsel, is a plus.
- Personal or commercial property insurance experience is beneficial.
