This is a senior engineering opportunity focused on building reliable, scalable technology that powers personalized promotional experiences. You will work on the promotions engine and the services that enable marketing teams to create compelling offers and deliver them across digital products. The role combines hands-on development, system architecture, performance optimization, and technical problem-solving. You will design APIs and services while integrating with internal and third-party platforms across multiple client experiences. Production reliability, scalability, and operational excellence are central to the work. You will also collaborate across teams and mentor engineers while helping shape solutions for complex technical challenges.

Design, scale, and performance-tune GraphQL APIs, low-latency gRPC services, and SQL queries powering the promotions engine.
Own technical challenges with significant scope and complexity, developing solution proposals and presenting them to leadership and partner teams for feedback.
Design, architect, and deliver new features end-to-end within a collaborative Agile/Scrum environment.
Identify production bottlenecks, scalability constraints, and areas of technical risk, then drive improvements to strengthen platform performance and reliability.
Establish and refine monitoring and alerting through Datadog for the systems under your ownership.
Investigate production performance issues and implement improvements that address CPU hotspots, latency regressions, and other high-throughput service challenges.
Participate in on-call rotations and take ownership of production release cycles from end to end.
Mentor engineers across teams through technical specifications, pairing, code reviews, and knowledge sharing.
Collaborate with stakeholders and engineering teams to deliver reliable promotional capabilities and continuously improve the underlying platform.

Requirements

At least 5 years of professional software engineering experience.
Strong computer science fundamentals, including data structures, algorithms, distributed systems, and software design.
Proven experience working with production systems at scale, including load testing, tracing, performance analysis, and optimization.
Experience investigating and remediating production performance regressions, particularly CPU and latency issues in high-throughput services.
Experience with on-call rotations for production services and end-to-end ownership of release cycles.
Strong understanding of clean code architecture and software craftsmanship.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience creating technical specifications, runbooks, and cross-team design documentation.
Experience with modern web frameworks and API development, such as Phoenix, Ruby on Rails, FastAPI, Laravel, or Node.js.
At least 2 years of experience designing and evolving GraphQL schemas for product surfaces used across multiple clients, including iOS, Android, and web.
Experience building and integrating multi-client or white-label platforms, including geo-based routing and client-specific configuration.
Strong knowledge of relational databases, particularly PostgreSQL and MySQL.
Experience with Kubernetes and operating services in containerized environments.
Comfortable working with terminal-based tools, Git, GitHub or similar platforms, and modern development environments.
Experience with testing frameworks such as ExUnit, RSpec, Jest, pytest, or equivalent.
Experience with background job processing technologies such as Oban, Exq, Sidekiq, Celery, or Beanstalk.
Experience with asynchronous event-handling infrastructure such as Apache Kafka, RabbitMQ, AWS SQS/SNS, or Google Cloud Pub/Sub.
Experience building applications in Elixir is a plus.
Familiarity with hexagonal architecture, Domain-Driven Development, open-source contributions, or startup environments is desirable.
Passion for sports and/or esports is a plus.
