Senior Supplier Industrialization Engineer, Electromagnetic Warfare
Quick Summary
This position is listed on behalf of a partner company, who manages all applications and next steps. Our partner is looking for a Senior Supplier Industrialization Engineer,
This is a high-impact engineering role focused on industrializing and scaling critical electronics within an Electromagnetic Warfare supply base.
You will work across engineering, quality, supply chain, manufacturing, and external suppliers to move complex designs from early builds into reliable production.
The role combines deep electronics manufacturing expertise with supplier development, process optimization, capacity planning, and production readiness.
You will influence design-for-manufacturing decisions early while ensuring suppliers can consistently meet demanding quality, cost, and throughput targets.
Your work will span PCBA, cables and harnesses, connectors, active and passive components, and RF/microwave technologies.
With significant ownership and supplier-facing responsibility, you will help establish production capabilities, improve manufacturing processes, and reduce supply-chain risk.
The position is remote-friendly, with a preference for office presence and an expectation of at least 50% travel to supplier and other relevant sites.
- Lead supplier industrialization for EW electronics, from early PCBA builds and new product introduction through production ramp and ongoing lifecycle support.
- Own electrical commodities and subcategories including rigid, flex, and rigid-flex PCBs/PCBAs, cables and wire harnesses, connectors and interconnects, passive and active components, ICs, FPGAs, processors, and RF/microwave components.
- Develop and execute supplier production strategies that support the transition from NPI to full-scale production.
- Evaluate supplier manufacturing capabilities, facilities, factory layouts, equipment, and workforce to support supplier qualification and approval.
- Partner with engineering and suppliers to identify and mitigate DFM, DFT, and DFA risks before design lock, with particular emphasis on PCBA manufacturability.
- Lead manufacturing process development at supplier sites, including new production lines, tooling, SMT configurations, reflow profiles, AOI/SPI/X-ray inspection, and production test cells.
- Drive capacity expansion readiness, rough-cut capacity planning, takt-time studies, and throughput improvements to support production targets.
- Develop and maintain manufacturing-readiness documentation, including process flows, PFMEAs, Control Plans, GR&R studies, and yield targets for electronics assemblies.
- Establish and monitor supplier performance through statistical process control reviews focused on critical-to-quality parameters.
- Identify and implement product and process improvements, factory-layout optimization, and value-engineering initiatives to reduce cost, improve cycle time, eliminate defects, and mitigate supply risk.
- Support supplier quality and engineering teams in enforcing quality requirements and lead or contribute to root-cause and corrective/preventive action efforts.
Requirements
~1 min read- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering, supply chain, or a related technical discipline.
- 6+ years of experience in supplier quality, supplier industrialization, or a related function within an electronics manufacturing environment.
- Deep hands-on knowledge of PCBA manufacturing, including SMT processing, wave or selective soldering, reflow profiling, component placement, and AOI, SPI, and X-ray inspection.
- Strong understanding of electronics manufacturing standards, including IPC-A-610, IPC J-STD-001, IPC-6012, and IPC-6013.
- Demonstrated expertise in design for manufacturing, design for test, and design for assembly.
- Ability and willingness to travel at least 50% of the time.
- Ability to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.
- Experience in defense, aerospace, automotive, high-tech, or another advanced electronics manufacturing environment is preferred.
- Experience with RF/microwave assemblies and high-reliability electronics is a plus.
- Familiarity with AS9100, ISO 9001, and other quality management systems and certifications is preferred.
- Experience working in high-mix, low-volume manufacturing environments is advantageous.
- Lean/Six Sigma certification or demonstrated expertise in continuous improvement is a plus.
- Experience working in fast-paced or startup environments is preferred.
- Strong communication, negotiation, analytical, and problem-solving skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively across technical teams and external suppliers.
