This senior engineering role is responsible for designing, administering, securing, and supporting enterprise Microsoft environments.
You will work across Azure, Intune, Microsoft 365, Windows Server, Active Directory, and modern identity technologies.
The position plays a key role in cloud adoption, infrastructure modernization, endpoint management, and enterprise security initiatives.
You will troubleshoot complex technical issues while improving system performance, reliability, compliance, and cost efficiency.
The role combines hands-on engineering with technical leadership, cross-functional collaboration, and mentoring.
You will partner with engineering, security, and business teams to deliver scalable technology solutions across hybrid environments.
This is a fully remote independent contractor opportunity with an immediate start and an hourly rate of $75–$85.

Design, deploy, administer, and maintain Microsoft Azure infrastructure and cloud services, including virtual machines, virtual networks, storage, identity, and security services.
Monitor Azure environments and optimize performance, availability, reliability, and cost efficiency.
Support cloud migration, modernization, and hybrid-cloud initiatives.
Administer Microsoft Intune and Endpoint Manager, including device compliance policies, configuration profiles, application deployments, and endpoint lifecycle management.
Manage Windows Autopilot provisioning and ensure endpoint security, patching, and compliance standards are consistently maintained.
Administer Microsoft 365 services including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
Manage identity and access through Microsoft Entra ID, Conditional Access, MFA, and Zero Trust security practices.
Administer Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, DHCP, storage, and virtualization environments.
Support backup, disaster recovery, business continuity, system upgrades, patching, and ongoing infrastructure maintenance.
Implement and maintain Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, and other security controls while monitoring and remediating vulnerabilities.
Support security assessments, audits, compliance initiatives, and the development of system documentation and operational procedures.
Provide Tier 2/3 technical support and resolve complex infrastructure, identity, endpoint, and cloud issues.
Participate in incident response and on-call support activities when required.
Collaborate with engineering, security, and business stakeholders to design and deliver technology solutions.
Mentor junior IT professionals and provide technical leadership across infrastructure and modernization projects.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent professional experience.
At least 5 years of experience supporting enterprise Microsoft environments.
Strong hands-on experience administering Microsoft Azure and its core infrastructure and cloud services.
Demonstrated experience with Microsoft Intune and Endpoint Manager.
Strong Microsoft 365 administration and troubleshooting experience, including Exchange Online, Teams, SharePoint Online, and OneDrive.
Experience administering Windows Server, Active Directory, Group Policy, DNS, and DHCP.
Working knowledge of PowerShell scripting and automation.
Strong understanding of networking concepts, identity and access management, cybersecurity principles, and enterprise infrastructure.
Experience with Microsoft Defender, Microsoft Sentinel, or comparable security technologies is preferred.
Experience with VMware, Hyper-V, or other virtualization platforms is advantageous.
Familiarity with ITIL processes and service management frameworks is a plus.
Experience supporting hybrid cloud environments is preferred.
Relevant Microsoft certifications such as AZ-104, MD-102, MS-102, or AZ-305 are advantageous.
Strong analytical and troubleshooting skills, with the ability to diagnose complex technical problems.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to work effectively with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
Strong organizational and documentation skills, with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Customer-focused mindset and ability to take ownership of technical issues from investigation through resolution.
