The role also involves customer visits, job walks, presentations, trade shows, and industry events, with up to 60% travel.
Success requires a strong commercial mindset, mechanical aptitude, independence, and the ability to communicate effectively with stakeholders at all levels.
- Identify, pursue, and close new business opportunities while expanding existing customer accounts within the assigned territory.
- Build trusted, long-term customer relationships by understanding business challenges and providing relevant technical advice and support.
- Develop and execute an annual regional sales strategy aligned with established revenue and growth objectives.
- Manage sales opportunities throughout the full cycle, from prospecting and qualification through proposal development, negotiation, and closing.
- Conduct customer visits and job walks to understand project requirements and provide clear, measurable scopes of work to estimation and operations teams.
- Support the preparation of bids and proposals, ensuring recommended services are aligned with customer needs and project requirements.
- Address technical and commercial objections by clearly communicating the value and suitability of proposed solutions.
- Deliver customer presentations and educational seminars while representing the organization at trade shows and industry events.
- Evaluate project opportunities and support compliance with applicable U.S. export control requirements.
Requirements
~1 min read- Four-year degree, preferably in business, engineering, or another technical field.
- 6–10 years of successful sales and business development experience in a quota-driven environment, with demonstrated and measurable results.
- Proven ability to prospect, sell technical services, negotiate effectively, and consistently close business.
- Strong mechanical aptitude with the ability to understand, explain, and communicate technical concepts to customers and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent written, verbal, presentation, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage stakeholders at different levels.
- Strong organizational, strategic thinking, prioritization, and time-management skills.
- Ability to manage a territory independently and work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- High level of integrity, accountability, customer focus, and follow-through, combined with an entrepreneurial mindset.
- Valid Class C driver's license and an acceptable driving record.
- Willingness and ability to travel up to 60%, including overnight stays, for customer visits, job walks, trade shows, and industry events.
- Ability to comply with applicable federally mandated U.S. export control requirements.
- Familiarity with the pharmaceutical or water systems industries is preferred.
- Experience using a CRM system to manage customer relationships, sales activities, and opportunities is preferred.
