Experienced Bookkeeper – ServiceTitan & QuickBooks

John Owens Services, Inc. is looking for an experienced, detail-oriented Bookkeeper with a strong accounting background and, most importantly, hands-on ServiceTitan experience.

ServiceTitan experience is required for this position.

This is not an entry-level bookkeeping role. We are looking for someone who understands how the financial side of a service business operates and can confidently work with assets, liabilities, expenses, inventory, accounts payable, batching, reconciliations, and financial records.

The ideal candidate will be comfortable working between ServiceTitan and QuickBooks and understands how transactions flow from the operational side of the business into the accounting system.

Responsibilities

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping and accounting functions
• Work extensively within ServiceTitan, including financial transactions and batching
• Review and process ServiceTitan batches and ensure information is accurately transferred and recorded
• Manage and reconcile assets, liabilities, income, and expenses
• Maintain accurate accounts payable records and process vendor invoices and payments
• Track and reconcile company inventory
• Reconcile bank accounts, credit cards, and other financial accounts
• Review transactions for accuracy and proper account classification
• Identify discrepancies and research accounting or batching issues
• Maintain accurate general ledger records
• Assist with month-end reconciliation and financial reporting
• Maintain organized vendor and accounting documentation
• Work within both QuickBooks Online and QuickBooks Desktop
• Communicate with management regarding discrepancies, outstanding items, or financial concerns
• Help maintain accurate financial processes between ServiceTitan and QuickBooks
  

Required Experience

We are specifically looking for an experienced candidate who can step into this position with a strong working knowledge of the systems and accounting principles involved.

Required:

• Strong hands-on ServiceTitan experience – this is a MUST
• Several years of bookkeeping or accounting experience
• Strong understanding of assets, liabilities, expenses, and general ledger accounting
• Experience with accounts payable
• Experience processing and reconciling batches
• Experience with inventory accounting and reconciliation
• Strong proficiency with QuickBooks Online
• Experience with QuickBooks Desktop
• Experience with bank and credit card reconciliations
• Ability to research and resolve discrepancies independently
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy
• Ability to manage multiple accounting responsibilities and deadlines

The Person We Are Looking For

We need someone who understands more than basic data entry or invoice processing. You should be comfortable looking at financial information, recognizing when something does not look right, researching the issue, and correcting it.

You should understand why transactions are categorized the way they are, how assets and liabilities affect the books, how inventory should be accounted for, and how ServiceTitan financial activity connects to QuickBooks.

Experience working in an HVAC, plumbing, electrical, construction, or other home-service company is highly preferred.

• Extensive ServiceTitan accounting/bookkeeping experience
• Previous bookkeeping experience for a home-service or trades company
• Experience troubleshooting ServiceTitan-to-QuickBooks discrepancies
• Strong understanding of inventory and cost-related accounting
• Ability to work independently without needing extensive training on basic bookkeeping principles
• Experience managing a high volume of transactions, vendors, invoices, and batches
