The City of Kenora is looking for students for summer employment! This is your chance to be part of a dynamic and innovative team of professionals who work hard to ensure the best possible experience for all of our residents and visitors. Duties: 

  • Assist with tasks associated with the Community Safety and Well-Being Plan, including action items requiring data management involving collection, verification of data.
  • Work with datasets, such as service maps from sectors such as health, justice, social service, etc. to create an unified product.
  • Using new technologies such as AI systems to assist with tasks.
  • Conduct a gap analysis of programs currently available for victims and perpetrators of violence. This includes liaising with organizations, and performing focus groups as needed.
  • Attend meetings when required.
  • Additionally, this position will assist with research, and document creation as required.


Qualifications:

  • Must be a full-time student in the 2025-26 school year at a secondary or post-secondary education institution and be returning to school full-time for the 2026-27 school season. 
  • Possess good communication skills with ability to understand and follow written and verbal instructions. 
  • Able to work independently. 
  • Excellent customer service skills & interpersonal skills with the ability to deal with the public with tact and diplomacy. 
  • Must be willing to work a variety of shifts including some weekends, evenings, and holidays. 
  • Interest in public service and systems improvement.
  • Comfortable with software programs like Microsoft Excel.
  • Must have valid G2 or G Class Driver's License


Position Overview: 

  • The basis for the work for the position comes from the Kenora CSWB Plan, specifically Action 1.1 (a) and (b) and Action 6.1.

Action 1.1

Organize a series of collaboration summit(s) with the following expected outcomes:

  • (a) The community of Kenora will have a “No Wrong Door” approach for all health and social services to help ensure effective triaging.
  • (b) The community of Kenora will have a community services map that visually represents the available resources and services within the community and provides a transparent and accessible system of accountability where programs and services are clearly linked to measurable outcomes.

Action 6.1

For the Prevention of Interpersonal Violence theme, it was recognized that a gap analysis for this work was needed, which is why Action 6.1 was created:

  • Conduct a gap analysis to assess what programs are currently available in Kenora for victims and perpetrators of violence, what preventive efforts exist, and utilize that knowledge for program and policy development.


Hours:         35 hours per week. Varying shifts

Rate:            $23.00/hr

 

Students will be required to provide the City with proof of enrolment if successful in a summer position with the City of Kenora.
