As a Junior Accountant in our Private Enterprise team, you’ll work with the small and medium‑sized businesses that drive Aotearoa’s economy - gaining hands‑on experience while you study toward becoming a Chartered Accountant.

This is more than an entry‑level role. It’s a supported, long‑term pathway where your learning accelerates, your confidence builds, and your impact grows year after year. You’ll build skills, confidence, and experience from day one, all while contributing to meaningful client outcomes.

At KPMG, growing your career means growing New Zealand’s prosperity too.

  • Respond to client queries and support the compliance team in managing client relationships concerning income tax, GST, and other indirect taxes.
  • Attend in-house or external training to enhance your knowledge and proficiency in using professional accounting software.

  • Provide insightful financial solutions and advice to help businesses thrive.
  • Balance your work commitments with part-time study as you progress toward becoming a Chartered Accountant.
  • Embrace opportunities for professional development and career advancement within the firm.
  • Assist other team members with administrative tasks as needed.
  • A recent high school graduate or first-year student pursuing Accounting at a university, tertiary institution, or through the CAANZ CA Fundamentals pathway, with plans to obtain a Chartered Accountant (CA) professional qualification upon completion of their studies.
  • Passionate about working with small to medium-sized firms across Aotearoa to help drive our purpose of #FuellingNewZealandsProsperity.
  • Excited to gain real hands-on experience in accounting that will complement their academic studies.
  • Eager to seize the opportunity to advance their career at a leading international firm.
    • A permanent, full-time role with base office hours of 37.5 hours per week.
    • This is a paid position to support yourself whilst studying.
    • Flexibility to use up to 7.5 hours of unpaid study leave per week to attend your tertiary classes and paid study leave to prepare for exams and internal assessments
    • Flexible part-time study options, allowing you to balance work, study, and social commitments, with an extended timeframe to complete your degree.
    • Support, equivalent to the above, for those pursuing a postgraduate CA professional qualification to become a Chartered Accountant.
