As an AI Data Engineer at Kyndryl, you will serve as the architect behind the high-performance data infrastructure that powers our autonomous systems. Rather than simply moving tables, you will build the real-time, scalable data pipelines that enable agentic AI to reason over the world’s most complex enterprise environments.

Key Responsibilities

• Pipeline Design & Engineering: Design, develop, and maintain high-performance, scalable ETL/ELT data pipelines using core Microsoft Azure services for both structured and unstructured data.
• System Integration: Implement robust data integration solutions across multi-source enterprise environments, utilizing REST APIs, Azure Event Hubs, and Azure Functions.
• Architecture & Optimization: Build reusable data frameworks, establish coding standards, and continuously optimize data processing workflows for maximum performance and cost efficiency.
• Data Governance & Security: Enforce data quality, security, compliance, and governance protocols across all data assets while managing secure access via Azure Key Vault and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Operations & CI/CD: Monitor, troubleshoot, and maintain Azure-based data pipelines, implementing CI/CD pipelines and maintaining comprehensive system documentation.
• Cross-Functional Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional technical teams to support downstream analytics, reporting, and advanced machine learning initiatives.
• Programming Core: Strong proficiency in SQL and Python, PySpark expertise, and a solid understanding of data modeling principles. Basic working knowledge of Java is preferred.
• Azure Expertise: Demonstrated hands-on experience with Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Databricks, Azure Blob Storage, Azure Analytics, Azure SQL Database, Azure Monitor, Azure Key Vault, and Microsoft Entra ID.
• Big Data & Integration: Deep familiarity with Apache Spark, Databricks, event-driven architecture (Azure Event Hubs), serverless computing (Azure Functions), and API integrations.

Required Qualifications

• Experience: 6–8+ years of core Data Engineering experience, with at least 3+ years of dedicated, hands-on experience building enterprise-scale solutions using Microsoft Azure data services.
• Core Technical Skills: Strong proficiency in Python, SQL, and PySpark.
• Data Engineering Mastery: Proven track record in designing, building, and optimizing enterprise-scale ETL/ELT pipelines and processing frameworks.
• Data Architecture: Solid understanding of data modeling principles, concepts, and relational database structures.
• Cloud & Platform Infrastructure: Practical experience across core Azure technologies, including Azure Data Factory (ADF), Azure Databricks, Azure Blob Storage, Azure SQL Database, and Azure Analytics.

Preferred Skills

• Advanced Azure & Governance: Familiarity with Azure Monitor, Azure Key Vault, Microsoft Entra ID, and cloud data security/compliance best practices.
• Big Data & Serverless Integration: Experience working with Apache Spark, Azure Event Hubs, Azure Functions, and REST API integrations for real-time and event-driven architectures.
• Programming: Basic working knowledge of Java alongside core Python/SQL expertise.
