Lansdale has a new and exciting position for a Main Street Manager. During the first 12 months, the Main Street Manager will focus on establishing program capacity, achieving early wins, and positioning Lansdale Borough for long-term success and continued DCED investment. Priority initiatives include:

 

Establish the Main Street Program Framework

  • Formally launch Lansdale’s Main Street Program in alignment with DCED standards and the Main Street Four-Point Approach®.
  • Develop the program’s mission, vision, and guiding principles in collaboration with Borough leadership and key stakeholders.
  • Establish a clear governance and reporting structure, including roles of the Borough, Economic Development Committee, and partner organizations.
  • Create an annual work plan and budget aligned with DCED grant requirements and Borough economic development goals.
  • Develop systems for tracking program activities, expenditures, and outcomes consistent with DCED reporting expectations.


Build Relationships & Stakeholder Engagement

  • Conduct outreach to downtown business owners, property owners, and key community partners to build trust and establish the Main Street Program as a central resource.
  • Create and maintain a comprehensive inventory of businesses, properties, vacancies, and redevelopment opportunities within the Main Street district.
  • Establish regular communication channels with stakeholders, including meetings, updates, and feedback mechanisms.
  • Identify and cultivate partnerships that support volunteer engagement, sponsorships, and program sustainability.


Advance Economic Vitality & Business Support

  • Develop and implement a business retention and engagement strategy to support existing Main Street businesses.
  • Assist with site readiness and business recruitment efforts, including coordination with property owners and Borough departments.
  • Identify opportunities to activate vacant or underutilized storefronts through temporary uses, pop-ups, or targeted outreach.
  • Support the launch or refinement of façade improvement or incentive programs aligned with DCED funding objectives.

 

Initiate Design & Placemaking Improvements

  • Identify and advance at least one visible, high-impact design or placemaking project that improves the appearance or functionality of the Main Street district.
  • Support streetscape, façade, signage, or wayfinding improvements that align with Borough plans and DCED design principles.
  • Coordinate with Borough staff and partners to improve walkability, accessibility, and overall public realm quality.


Strengthen Promotion & Downtown Identity

  • Coordinate with Discover Lansdale to align existing events and promotions with Main Street economic development goals.
  • Help refine or establish consistent branding and messaging for Lansdale’s Main Street districts.
  • Support promotional initiatives that drive foot traffic, highlight local businesses, and reinforce Lansdale as a regional destination.
  • Assist in identifying sponsorships and partnerships to support promotional activities.


Position the Program for Future Funding & Growth

  • Identify and pursue DCED and other funding opportunities to support continued Main Street investment.
  • Prepare documentation, data, and narratives needed for grant compliance, designation readiness, or future applications.
  • Demonstrate early program success through measurable outcomes such as business engagement, investment leveraged, events supported, or visible physical improvements.
  • Present a year-end summary report to Borough leadership and stakeholders outlining accomplishments, lessons learned, and recommended Year Two priorities.


Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Planning, Business, Public Administration, or related field with a minimum of 3-5 years' experience in community and/or economic development, or related field.
