LaPrairie Works Inc., a member of LaPrairie Group of Companies, provides highway and bridge maintenance, civil construction, slope stabilization, erosion and drainage control, and environmental remediation services across Western Canada. We are proud to be formally recognized with industry and ministerial awards for innovation and environmental stewardship, while managing long-term contracts within both provincial and federal jurisdictions.


We are looking to hire an experienced HSE Field Support person to join our growing team in Grimshaw, Alberta. This is a temporary role with potential to become permanent. 


As a HSE Field Support person, you will be expected to travel to various LaPrairie Works Inc. facilities and work sites within our contract maintenance areas to conduct regular worksite inspections.


Responsibilities:


  • Provide HSE guidance and support to supervisors.

  • Work with operations to promote a safe working environment.

  • Travel within the contract area to conduct worksite inspections on a regular basis.

  • Follow up with action items resulting from worksite inspections to ensure completion.

  • Maintain accurate reporting documents.

  • Participate and assist with Environmental Inspections and follow up on Environmental Action items.

  • Monitor and complete various annual permit and certification renewals.

  • Assist in conducting Winter Snowplow Awareness meetings within the contract areas.

  • Conduct incident investigations, working with the Foreman and Team Lead from completion to submission.

  • Assist in ensuring documentation is kept up to date and current at each location within the contract areas.

  • Assist with LaPrairie Works Oilfield Services safety requirements compliance.

  • Other duties as may be assigned.


Desired skills and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2-3 years relevant field safety experience.
  • NCSO Professional certification, or equivalent is preferred.
  • OHS Certification would be an asset.
  • Suitable experience and/or equivalent knowledge in HSE within the Highway Maintenance, Public Works, and/or Civil Construction industry sectors is preferred.
  • Experience with the WCB process and claims management is an asset but not required.
  • Experience and proven record in participation of safety management processes (e.g. safety committees, working groups, auditing, and inspection experience).
  • Hold a valid drivers’ license.
  • Able to work effectively with people of all levels including management, employees, and contractors.
  • Highly organized with attention to detail.
  • Able to manage multiple priorities and adapt to fast changing situations.
  • Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
  • Ability to handle sensitive and confidential information in an efficient and professional matter.
  • Self-starter, ability to work collaboratively and independently.
  • Ability to prioritize projects and meet critical deadlines.
  • Proficient in Microsoft basic suite of programs (i.e., e Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access).
  • Ability to travel on a regular basis throughout the area of operations.
