Job Purpose/ Key Objectives:



  • The Reporting Accountant will be responsible for the preparation, analysis, and presentation of accurate and timely financial and management reports for the Company and its subsidiaries. The role supports statutory reporting, regulatory compliance, budgeting, performance analysis, and management decision-making within the oil and gas business environment.
  • The job holder will ensure compliance with IFRS, internal policies, and applicable regulatory requirements while supporting continuous improvement in financial reporting processes and controls.

Principal Accountabilities:



Financial Reporting

  • Prepare monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements in accordance with IFRS and Company policies.
  • Assist in the preparation of consolidated financial statements for multiple business units and subsidiaries.
  • Prepare management accounts, board reports, and executive dashboards.
  • Ensure accuracy and completeness of general ledger balances and supporting schedules.
  • Perform month-end and year-end closing activities within reporting timelines.



Management Reporting & Analysis

  • Prepare operational and financial performance reports, including production and cost analysis.
  • Analyze budget versus actual variances and provide commentary to management.
  • Support preparation of Opex/bbl, CAPEX, and cost allocation reports.
  • Develop and maintain financial models and reporting templates.



Regulatory & Statutory Compliance

  • Support statutory audits and coordinate audit requests with external auditors.
  • Prepare schedules and reports required by regulatory agencies and government authorities.
  • Ensure compliance with tax, financial, and industry-specific reporting obligations.



Systems & Process Improvement

  • Maintain and improve reporting processes, controls, and reporting accuracy.
  • Assist in ERP and financial system reporting enhancements.
  • Liaise with IT and system support teams on reporting automation initiatives.
  • Ensure proper documentation and filing of reporting schedules and working papers.



Stakeholder Engagement

  • Work closely with Finance, Operations, Treasury, Tax, and Technical teams.
  • Support management with financial insights for strategic decision-making.
  • Provide reporting support to joint venture and partner reporting requirements where applicable.
  • Perform all other duties that are necessary and reasonably attached to this Reporting Accountant position and the fulfillment of its responsibilities.
  • Any other responsibilities as assigned by the Head of Financial Reporting & Analysis.



Job Knowledge, Skills, Educational Requirement:



Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Professional accounting qualification (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent) required.

 

Experience

  • Minimum 5 to 8 years’ experience in financial reporting, preferably within the oil and gas industry.
  • Strong knowledge of IFRS and financial reporting standards.
  • Experience with ERP systems such as SAP, Oracle, Sun Systems, or similar platforms.

 

Knowledge, Skills & Competencies

  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Advanced Excel and financial modelling
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple reporting deadlines.
  • Good understanding of upstream oil and gas accounting concepts.
  • Ability to work independently and under pressure.
